After last night, there is simply no way that DPOY goes to anyone but this guy.
Clearly the best defensive lineman (4-3 *or* 3-4) so far this year, and will probably finish up so at the end of the year as well.

While he is playing better than anyone, that is a ridiculous statement. We're 5 games in.

Chris Carter, the former Eagles WR, said this guy,
...reminded him of THIS guy.
It's early, but there are signs IMO.
Homers need to WAKE UP.
Watt is the most dominant interior Dlineman in the pros, regardless of scheme.

It's absolutely awesome to watch him every week as a Texans fan, but the DPOY talk, Reggie White talk, and Hall of Fame talk (seriously, wtf) just makes me cringe. Great player, but hes 5 games into his 2nd season. Calm down!

The guy may have 8.5 sacks, but all those other times he's been completely shut down[/Leroy Harris]

Yeah the HOF stuff is a little much but Watt has been manhandling everyone all season.

Then when he isn't sacking people he's tipping passes that led to interceptions. JPP does a lot of that too though.

Yeah, but JPP's sacks are misleading.

I wish people can just be dominant players without having to be hoisted to the heavens by excited pundits. I almost feel bad for JJ Watt. Id rather just go out and do my business rather than have everyone build me up to unreasonable levels prematurely.

No different IMO than what people were saying about CMIII after his rookie year.
Conservatively, JJ Watt is a dominating player with a rare skillset for the position, and he appears to be one of those guys who will be dominant for a long time to come.
I always wondered why Houston kicked Mario Williams to the curb if he'd fully recovered from his pec injury. Now I know why.

Well, plus he would have cost a boatload of money when we had 2 other very capable players at his position who cost a ton less (Reed and Barwin).

On a slightly related topic, i would've hoped for that kind of dominance from Suh.

For a guy who was supposedly academically talented at Nebraska, Suh doesn't really play a 'smart' game for a DT.
Sometimes I think he's focused more on getting stats instead of just playing great football.

Mario was never worth 90 million to begin with. Even if you didn't have a JJ Watt on the team.
Buffalo regrets signing him.

It's a little early for regrets after 5 games.

I stand by what I said. I might even agree with you. But I think 5 games is too early to definitively say Buffalo already regrets the contract.

What did you honestly think he would get in Free Agency? He's in the middle of his prime, one of the best DE prospects to come out in a very long time, and had been very productive leading up to his injury. You can argue semantics of the value and his true "worth", but he hit unrestrictred FA. If Buffalo didn't sign him for 90 do you doubt that there were at least another handful of teams who were going to sign him for 80 and change?

That's the thing. I'd strongly argue his productivity. Discounting last year, he's averaged roughly 10 sacks a season.
Solid. But not dominant. They paid him because they projected he'd stay healthy and be more productive for them because of his physical ability. But Mario has never in his entire career shown absolute dominance. If you're going to get DeMarcus Ware money, you better produce like Ware. And he's never been that productive. He's been productive yes, but not 90 million productivity.
I admit, I'm disappointed. I expected more from Mario. I thought he was going to really make the leap we all expected him to when he left Houston. I thought he'd be that guy, but he hasn't been, and I'm starting to realize he probably won't ever be that guy.
I fell in love with the measurables. And I projected his ability. But the reality is, the numbers just don't add up.

Mario is a good-very good pass rusher, and at least before he dropped to 265 to play OLB he was a very good run stopper as well. He's never been elite at anything, but he was a very, very good all around DE. It also shouldnt be discounted that he was literally the only person worth anything on Houston's D for like 4 years, and teams regularly double-triple teamed him because they didnt have to focus on the immortal Travis Johnson or the legendary Amobi Okoye.

For fun, go compare JJ Watt's combine to Mario Williams'
And Watt is sexy and a stud. All convo in here should revolve around his awesomeness.
