Why did the steelers just release Joey Porter? I'm sure they could have fetched at least a 2nd round draft pick if they traded him....

PS. I'm sure there is some underlying Salary cap issue hear.

I'm not sure exactly what went on with him, but the Niners weren't even remotely interested in him even though we needed a pass rush badly. We went for Tully Banta-Cain over him.

I think most people in the league think he is either over-rated or washed-up.

Because most of those people are "draft rookies". They will eventually learn what a players value is, and will realise that just because a guy gets X# of sacks a year does not mean that he is good.

we released him because he was getting paid more $ then the was worth

also it was known he was going to hold out for more money and honestly we couldnt pay him

and thirdly everyone else knew we were going to cut him because of the money issue, therefore we had no leverage to trade him, the cap hit woulda been more then what we got in return

i remember reading an artical by Adam Schefter that no one was intrested in trading for him and the most they would of gotten is 6th or 7th rounder.
