Actually, the computer polls don't disagree. That's why Notre Dame is ahead of Oregon in the BCS.
Oregon is ahead in the human polls because they started the season ranked ahead in the human polls. That's why preseason rankings are worthless.

I can't believe I slept through an epic Pitt collapse, WVU loss, and OSU win. What a perfect afternoon of college football.

Havnt seen it. Don't even know who they're playing actually
Edit: That is a good one. Still like Oregon better. Ill take them to beat damn near anyone by 7.5. Probably everyone but Bama actually.

Notre Dame has played nine games, and they have won all of them. Those games were against opponents that were better than the teams Oregon has beaten. That's it.
EDIT: I'm not sure if Notre Dame is better than Oregon to this point. What I do know is that Notre Dame deserves to be ranked higher than Oregon RIGHT NOW. That shouldn't even be an argument.
|
They really don't though. Coaches ranked them that high at the beginning of the year and they have done nothing wrong to the point where they should be passed by anyone.

2OT. TCU got a 2 point conversion to win. Again a team punished for completely abandoning defense.

But why should you start ranked ahead of anyone before you've played a game? Oregon received an advantage based on nothing but hype.

Talking about when Oregon played ASU. It was an 8 point spread. I won 250 on that game.

Hate that logic. Hate it. Just because people thought they were the 2nd best team at the beginning of the year doesn't mean they should be ranked above teams that have stronger resumes. Pre season rankings shouldn't be worth anywhere near that much.

Dont do a pre-season poll then plain and simple. That's not Oregon's fault that they were ranked higher to start the year, they cant be punished for that.

Oh yeah, I had 100 on that one as well. Been easy money on Oregon covering all year. Don't know why they seem to think someone's gonna give them a good game everytime they play anyone even remotely good.

ND's resume isn't really that much better.

Yes it is. It is much, much better.
Again, I hate Notre Dame. I have no dog in this fight. But I can do math and be a reasonable person. Notre Dame has played a much tougher schedule than Oregon to this point.

Yes it is. Doesn't even deserve a much longer response than that. Oregon hasn't played anyone up till now. Beating Stanford and Oklahoma alone is more impressive than anything Oregon has done this far.

I don't have a dog in this one either. But ND hasn't impressed me at all. Their Mich St win is probably their best win.

Notre Dame is basically playing a big 10 schedule...which as of right now is a damn joke (considering they wont play OSU who is the only team worth talking about), they skated by purdue and pitt. Oregon has manhandled everyone they have played without any competition. Outside of Stanford (Who Oregon will route, and OU) ND hasnt played a schedule worth a **** either.
Oregon could keep their starters in and win consistently by 70+ but they dont.

Sure did. I expected them to try to make a huge show on national tv tonight. But their defense looks much worse than I was expecting. Definitely had that side of the ball overrated.

I'm not ruling out the possibility that USC could go into that ND game unranked. They can lose here, and Arizona State (who broke Barkley down last year, after a 34-33 win the year before) and rival UCLA in Pasadena aren't easy games either. A 1-2 stretch with these 3 teams, and they're playing ND unranked. That in itself might ruin ND's SOS.
One convincing Oregon win this week, and they're probably leaping past ND tomorrow. The Irish's best shot at an NC would have to involve an upset by one of those top 3 teams.
A fitting/fiery end to the BCS would be if all 4 teams win out, and we get an Alabama-Kansas State National Championship.
Network Execs would be angry that neither ND nor the exciting Ducks made it,
Fans would be upset because the Rose Bowl deal would keep an ND-Ore bowl from happening, and we get stuck with Oklahoma-ND II in the Fiesta and...Oregon vs Nebraska for the Rose.
Probably won't happen, but plausible.

Oregon has played no one. Outside of two very good teams, Notre Dame has played no one.
Right now, Notre Dame has a more impressive résumé. That's all anyone has said. And you just said it.
