When he got to New England he was targeted more by Tom Brady so it really isn't a surprise he had a better year and continued to do so.

Not rocket science.
He had 67 grabs for 670 yards and 1 touchdown in Miami. That's pitiful production for your "best receiver". Blaming it on the QB play is laughable, because apparently playing with Tom isn't supposed to take anything away from his NE production according to you guys.

Danny Woodhead is very good at what he does. He's the same type of player as Reggie Bush. Puts up similar numbers when he's given a chance. And he is much cheaper than Bush.

Welker is one of the best WR's in the league. Jerry Rice, Deion Sanders, and Michael Irvin all agree.

Gronk/Hernendez are the best TE duo in the NFL.

Ridley is good, but not great. He's better than Benjarvus Gree-Ellis though.

Brandon Lloyd is decent.

Anyways curse BB's coaching genius! He's so brilliant that he was able to scheme a 6'4" 260 lb guy with decent hands to play a position generally occupied by 6'4" 260 lb guys with decent hands. What sorcery was this that allowed such a preposterous thing to happen? An out route at the back of the end zone you say? Brilliant! What innovation, it's too bad other coaches couldn't think of this.
If it's so easy, why isn't every coach doing it?

Quote:
Furthermore what cutting edge coaching he used to make completely averagely talented wide receivers into functional nickel CB's. Who knew guys who possess above average agility, good functional strength, ball skills, and demonstrated tackling ability could make it as CB's with brilliant schemes behind them? I mean it's not every day that somebody comes up with man coverage on a slot receiver or a zone covering the flat.

Never mind that these players probably played these positions in high school. Their college coaches decided that they should play another position, and after that those players should forget everything they ever learned playing other positions. How dare BB break with convention? He should have used a roster spot to sign a guy with less knowledge of the Patriots defensive playbook, who wasn't accustomed to the coaches and culture, and who possessed worse athletic ability just so they could put a # in the 20's on him. Then they'd be able to cover without brilliant scheming just like standouts Kyle Arrington and Darius Butler have.
Did you hear that, everyone? They probably played these positions in HIGH SCHOOL! This means they can be effective doing it again for the first time in years in the NFL.

Let's award bonus points because Belichick put Troy Brown on the field on defense for one of his gimmick plays. Let's ignore the fact that he was painfully slow and multiple coaching staffs had him before Belichick and thought, "well, he's our #3 receiver."

Well, Wes Welker himself was on the Miami Dolphins and didn't do what Wes Welker did on the Patriots. Same player, different results in different schemes.

Like I said, product of a system. You put Wes Welker on another team and he's done in the NFL within a couple years.

Boy don't get me started on that guy, he sucked balls his whole career until Bill Belichick decided he was gonna screw around with the league again. Belichick takes turrrrrbel WRs and makes them great
Apparently you missed the fact that Belichick has experience working on the offensive side of the ball under Ken Shipp. He was also the Giants' special teams coach for a number of years.

He is/was one of those rare coaches who excelled in coaching/scheming for all phases of football.

As you just mentioned: he was on another team, and he was (for all intents and purposes) traded for a 2nd round draft pick within two years.

I expect this type of crap from HypocrisyIsGreat, but you're better than this, Jordan.

If he went somewhere else at this stage of his career, a couple 40 catch, 450 yard, 2 TD seasons would be the end of his utility to a team.

So now he's going from Tom Brady to Peyton Manning, a secretly diminished Peyton Manning who will lean on him more than Brady did since the Gronkowski/Hernandez duo came to New England.

Sounds like the 'system' will still be in place for him.

No matter. If the 'system' works, the detractors are just whining because its hurting them at gametime.

Not a chance. Manning won't feed him like Brady did. Thomas and Decker will take precedence. Welker will do ~ 80-850-4, and probably still get voted to the Pro Bowl, thanks to the idiots.
