They said these moves will have no bearing on whether or not we sign Young or Francis. I still think we get one of those 2 also.
We also DFA'd Ryota Igarashi.

I have a feeling no one is picking up Iggy.

Probably not but it's worth the gamble. Not suprisingly but I really have liked all the little moves the front office has done so far. It may not equate to much this year but so far so good. I'm not going to bash Omar on this though because he actually was great at signing players like this also. Dickey, Valentin, etc..

Mets signed Willie Harris to a minor league deal. FO is doing well with the small signings. He's probably worth one or two wins alone because he won't be making incredible catches against us this year.

Mets signed Scott Hairston to a minor league deal. We also signed Young pending a physical.

Hopefully the media isn't going to be too harsh and get Sandy booted before he does his work. We are not going to be a good baseball team, and we certainly don't need the media pressuring Wilpons into doing something dumb.

What does everyone think about possibly signing Dickey to a 2 year deal instead of just giving him arb this year?

That's a gamble. It's an assumption that he would repeat the success from last year.
But don't be concerned about his age and health history. He's a knuckleballer.
I probably put more strain on my arm typing this post then he does in any of the games.

Yeah it's definitely a gamble. I'm not worried about injury but as you said who knows if he'll repeat his success. If we could sign him cheap it may not be a bad move though.

Meh, I'd rather just take it year by year with him unless it's really cheap like you said.

Well the other side of the gamble is if he pitches like he did last year then he's going to get a somewhat large payday. He's a FA after this year if we don't sign him.

Chris Young deal is official. I guess they'll have the upper hand for the 4 and 5 spots in the rotation. Probably a competition for the long man spot between Misch and Gee.

What is the projected return date for Johan?

The more I think on it, we probably should have gotten Francis. Not like it makes a difference anyway.

The shell of himself Johan or the good Johan? Because one's probably never coming back.

I liked Francis more than Young as well.
Johan doesn't really have a set return right now but I'm thinking July after the All Star break. The All Star Johan will never be back though with this shoulder injury. He's going to be on the books for a lot of dead money most likely but hopefully he proves me wrong.

Hopefully we can just get some production out of him. Even if he turns into a solid #2/3 (doubtful, but who knows) at least we can get some of our moneys worth. It's too bad we exploded his first few years here and we wasted his prime years.
Sigh, just another ****** contract to contend with. Hopefully Bay figures it out gives us something too or that's just another wasted contract. I'm much more confident in him bouncing back than Johan, though.

I think Bay is going to have a very big bounce back year. I'm pretty excited about our lineup if Beltran is relatively healthy. Our bullpen has the potential to be above average as well. We are lacking big time in the SP department but I'd be very happy if we can get to the 85-87 win mark this year.

The Scott Hairston deal was actually a major league contract. We have to make room on the 40 for him and Young today so this might be the day we finally cut Castillo. Hernandez, Stoner, and Pridie are also possible roster casualties.

I don't really drink much but it may be enough for me to do a couple shots in celebration of this occasion.

I'm not getting my hopes up that it's actually going to be today but you never know.

I hope it won't be Nickeas who gets dropped.
He was hitting last year. Granted, he was too old for AA, but with his defense, anything that he does at the plate is a bonus.

Castillo would've been my first choice, but that's ok I guess.
