I still don't see it. We had 4 picks in the top 75. We should have taken a chance on upside somewhere in there. Nido, Oswalt, Stank are all decent picks to spend a bit of dough on, but none of them are upper echelon talents like we could have taken in the top 75, even if it costed a couple extra hundred grand.

Well I agree with you on that part but at least it got a little better. It could have been much worse. It all depends on who we get signed though of course.

Whalen, Grant, and Taylor are all very intriguing. Bowman apparently was throwing 95 and has a Lincecum like delivery so there's that also.

After a little more reading, Brandon Welch is definitely one of my favorite picks.

He isn't a prep arm, but he still has a lot of upside. He throws hard and has a great slider. Scouts question his size, but I personally view that as overrated.

He's a JUCO guy and will probably require an over-slot figure to sign as well.

Wow, According to his tweet Nido has already agreed to sign. I hope this is true.

I thought negotiations with him would drag on the whole summer.

He is my favorite pick (not saying he is the best prospect, just where he was picked).

As ATL said they ended up doing a real good job with the picks but I wonder if they just took guys knowing they couldn't sign them. It's a built in excuse now to if they don't really make a run after them. Luckily the deadline is now July 13 so we'll have games every year to determine what we have in the system that same year.

I like the Taylor pick. It's going to be interesting seeing the amounts the players we get because of the budget. We'll be able to track who is more likely to sign once the numbers start rolling in.

Looks like we got Flexen signed for only $375K. Great news DePo. Nido and Flexen seemed to be 2 of our harder signs so with those both in we're looking good so far. Also, it seems as if everyone is higher on Cecchini than we are. Maybe we have to re-evaluate the pick after he's signed and we see what he does at Kingsport.

The thing with Cecchini is that if he fills in/hits his power peak, he's probably going to have to move off SS, which is what makes him a valuable piece. He's never going to be sexy, in any way, not even as a defender. We just need to hope he stays walking and stays as an above average defender.
