Good to see Glavine get #299 today, his next start should be pretty exciting.

On a side note, it looks like Heilman is starting to get it together as I dont think he has allowed a run since the break (not totally sure on that one though) hopefully this is a sign of things to come for October.

He's just too good of a hitter at such a young age that we should give up on him. As I've been saying pretty much all year it's going to be very interesting to see what we do with Gomez and Milledge. I know we're a high payroll team but I really wouldn't mind having them in the corner OF spots starting next year unless we're going a #1 in return for them. Imagine just the defense and speed with Beltran, Gomez, Milledge.

Heilman I believe has always had better number post ASB. I'm to lazy too look them up right now but I'm pretty sure I'm right. I think he'll be a fine 7th/8th inning guy for the rest of the year.

Well, the expectations for next year will be VERY high. Gomez and Milledge are both still pretty young and their plate discipline still needs work.

It's possible that both could struggle next season, and we should have a good backup plan, just in case.

Nick Evans after tonight's game is at a .300 BA and I think a .500 slugging. I always liked him but know I'm very exicted. He is a top 10 prospect for us at this point with a big upside. I was very glad we signed as our 5th RD pick 3 years ago.

He's putting up some great stats in a pitching-friendly league. But his best stat is, without a doubt, that near 1:1 BB:K ratio.

That's UNREAL for a power hitter.

Yeah I've been high on him but you especially has predicted great thing. I was a little more cautious than you but by far you've been right. Next year is going to be huge for him. I'm glad he's flying under the radar though.

If I remember correctly, you had Evans rated pretty high also.

BTW, how about the way our 2007 draft pick pitchers have faired so far? There are about 5-6 guys that are pitching great and have pretty good upside.

A lot of Mets fans were disappointed in the draft, but as I've said before, NEVER doubt Omar.

Like I said I did like Evans but you were def. higher on him than I was at the start of the year. Also, with the draft it's been pretty much the same thing. It took me about two weeks to realize we might have had a very good draft while you were saying the day after that we did. Moviel has been probably the best so far but I'd like us to sign Efferson still. I don't think thats going to happen though. As for hitter's I always liked Lucas and I think he'll be our biggest bat coming from this draft.

Moviel probably has the highest ceiling, but I'm also VERY high on Rustich.

He reminds me a lot of Bobby Parnell, in that both were TERRIBLE in college, but have GREAT stuff.

Rustich is already 22 though, and is still a project. That's a negative. But, I do think it was a good risk to take, as he has potentially 3 plus pitches.

I think Moviel has the highest upside. His large frame gives him potential plus I think he'll also have 3 plus pitches. I hope Clyne and Kunz move quickly.

There are also Dillon Owen and Dilon Gee.

Though he's not a 2007 draft pick, another guy to watch next year is Nick Carr, who's been dominant in Brooklyn this year.

Carr has been excellent for the Cyclones as you said. What kind of stuff does he throw?

The more I think about it the more I want Milledge and Gomez in the corners next year. I really think Milledge is good enough to be a MLB hitter at this point and Gomez will struggle at times but his speed won't allow him to go into a crazy slump. Wright, Reyes, and Beltran should be enough offense where we could carry those two guys. The speed and defense of that lineup has me drooling if it were to occur.

I'm with MaxV.

I want to get someone in FA who will start regularly in the OF. Just because Milledge is hot right now doesn't mean I want to see him AND Gomez starting in the OF next year.

I like Green in RF right now. I woulden't mind keeping him for another year. Same with Lo Duca. I don't see another better catcher that will be available next year. I like his character and leadership.

When we signed him, I've read a scouting report stating that he can throw in the mid-90s but his secondary pitches were incosistant.

I'm not sure how his secondary pitches are this year, but he's certainly pitching MUCH better.

Milledge has prover at every level that he can hit and so it well. He is right now a starting OF caliber major league player. Gomez is much more raw but I do not want us to get rid of him considering his upside. If we want to sign a guy to a 1 year deal next year that is fine with me. In two years then I want Gomez/Beltran/Milledge.

Unfortunately, I see us getting trading one of them away for SP in the future. However, that could change. b

Well the rotation next year does look a little shaky. Maine, Perez, Martinez, EL Duque and I guess Pelfrey or Humber.

Well, terrible loss today.

Ollie went 6, K'ed 9 and gave up 0 ERs. Unfortunately he also gave up 5 Unearned.

I hate these games in which we shoot ourselves in the foot.

In that inning only the HR was hit hard. All those other hits were garbage.
