Lost all respect for Jerry Rice and Tim Brown with that interview. Both of them stating that Bill Callahan intentionally sabotaged the team by changing the gameplan for the SB.

Quote:

And in a way, maybe because he (Callahan) didn't like the Raiders, he was willing to sabotage just a little bit and let Jon Gruden go out and win this one

-- Jerry Rice, on ESPN's "NFL Live
Disgusting. You wait how many years before deciding to slander your former head coach? Is there any likable athlete at the pinnacle of their sport or does it require you to become a narcissistic douche in order to achieve it?

Yeah, I'm actually pretty sure that it requires you to be a narcissistic douche. Some just hide it better/longer than others.

And who was the offensive coordinator in charge of a gameplan so bad that players thought the coaches were sabotaging the game? Marc Trestman! Awesome hire Bears!

I'm genuinely feeling sorry for you guys. It takes some pretty bad coaching to have people, a decade later, believe that it was a conspiracy to give Gruden a ring and stick it to the Raiders organization.

I disliked the hire from the beginning. Then I saw this picture of him...

Seriously? That's our coach? Strike two. This story is strike three. I hate this hire.

Xs and Os geek - Yes
Leader of men - ???

Brown said he was "shocked" that the Bears hired him because " I just never saw Trestman as being a head coach."

"There's a lot more to coaching than just X's and O's," Brown said. "You have to be able to deal with players and that's the reason Bill Callahan hasn't succeeded as a head coach. Because he's a smart guy, knows football like the back of his hand, but when it comes to leading [men], it's a totally different intangible you have to have. It's going to be very interesting to see how [Trestman] and Jay Cutler get along, that's for sure."

I'm surprised, given the tone of this thread over the last 24 hours, that said lube would need to be spermicidal.

It's interesting how opinions differ on this. If it were Pats/Falcons I thought it would have been a snoozefest, this is the best matchup for me in some years. Not even looking at the brothers spin, these are two evenly matched, similiarly built teams that you could say missed the SB last year to some unfortunate plays(Kyle Williams fumble and Lee Evans dropped TD) so we could have had a rematch.

I'm very interested in seeing which team has the better game plan, definately tired of seeing Tom Brady in the SB and a chance for Randy Moss or Ed Reed to get their 1st ring is pretty damn sweet IMO. Love both of those guys as players as 1st ballot HOFers I'll talk about seeing play in their prime when they are inducted.
