Who's the Best Player in the NFL Yet to Make the Pro Bowl?
Random thought. Let's say they have to've played for at least 5 years. Especially in this fantasy football era, it's kind of surreal to me that Marques Colston puts up over a thousand yards literally every year and hasn't ever been selected. You'd think he'd get hype for being drafted in the 7th, but it seems like every year someone was just a little better. That's the one that really jumps out at me when I think of the question, but I'm sure there are other players that come to mind for other people.
And I suppose to be clear about the point of the question - this isn't about a player who's fairly recently established himself as a high-level player despite being in the league for several years (Like Ahmad Brooks), but players who've consistently been integral to their team's gameplans for years, have excelled, but just can't seem to break into the status of that upper echelon.

After mulling it over I'd say Chris Long and Calais Campbell are the 2 best players who fit the criteria listed above that I could think of off the top of my head.

yes indeed.
The likes of David Garrard, Kerry Collins, Matt Cassel, Vince Young and even Derek Anderson have made the Pro Bowl over Flacco.
Although I do remember Flacco was invited one year as an alternate but he turned it down.
Just goes to show you what a joke the pro bowl really is.

I don't even pay attention to the Pro Bowl anymore. It's such a joke.
I'm surprised Campbell hasn't made it yet, same with Colston. I think Colston falls into the belief by some that the Saints offense has interchangeable parts and Brees makes it all work.
I want to give a shout out to Stefen Wiesnewski (sp) as well. Dude is a beast.

Some of you clearly do not understand how long 5 years is, because you've listed guys who have been in only a year or two.

Marquise Cole or Mike Kafka.
I think that is how this thread works.

London Fletcher held this title for over a decade.
That being said - I'd go with Colston/Campbell.

The pro bowls a joke and a popularity contest. It doesn't matter at all now days if you make it or not, half the players that make it there don't deserve it.

Maybe we should have done All Pro instead. Of course there would be a lot more candidates then. I'm trying to think who really got snubbed one year on the All Pro list 1st and/or 2nd team.

Calais Campell's a good one, too. Guess people know about Darnell Dockett and assume there CAN'T POSSIBLY be two great defensive linemen in Arizona. That whole defense is still pretty underrated. Just having Carson Palmer is going to get that team above .500.

Yeah, less interested in "sleepers" and more in players who've just managed to not get many accolades despite playing at a high level. Kind of hoping people are going to give shout outs to players on their home teams who've played well for a significant period of time without ever getting into the media cycle (i.e., good players that no one has ever told me are good and that perhaps I haven't watched much of.)

That and I wonder how Arians will perform as a HC for a whole year.
But on paper they are a good team. It's actually pretty scary.

Totally. Last year the Cardinals probably had the worst disparity between the talent level of their quarterbacks and the rest of the team I've ever seen.

If they can win a couple division games, they're there.

Really? Over-the-hill Carson Palmer is going to save Arizona, who has a terrible offensive line (Cooper helps, but it's still bad) and can't run the ball at all? The Cardinals are going to win over 8 games with San Francisco and Seattle in the division with the Rams not that far behind? Oh and they play in the tougher conference? Well, stranger things have happened I guess.
