Panthers running backs.
Is it me or do the Carolina Panthers have the most overrated RB combo in the NFL? J Stew got 36.5 with 22.5 guaranteed and D Will got 43 with 21 guaranteed. These guys have 3 1,000 yard season combined! And haven't hit that since 2009. 43.5 million for two RB's that can't break the 900 yard mark in the last three seasons might and should go down is some of the worst FA signing in years.

The running back situation in Carolina has been a mystery for quite some time. Funnily enough, I don't think the Panthers really know what to do with either Stewart/Williams.

you need backs to get 200+ carries to get to that 1000 yard mark and the carolina backs ahvent been getting those carries because they have been sharing

Obviously the yards they get individually isn't really the problem. It's the fact that they have so much money invested in their running game, which I don't really think is that potent, nor does it really scare a lot of teams.

Ow i think they have more invested in the running back position than any team should ever have.
I legitimately think both stewart and DAW are both really good backs though and lets just say that id swap them head2head for ingram in a heartbeat

Exactly how are the bolded things useful in evaluating running back performance?

The Panthers FO was very stupid for signing both to those contracts when the offense apparently doesn't bother using them. Both are very good backs, but I have no idea why either got paid if they weren't going to run the ball much.

The Panthers need to start giving these guys 200 carries each again. When they were doing that they easily had the best RB duo in the NFL, now they're just wasting away. Deangelo is gonna hit that 30 mark soon to...

It is pretty inexplicable what they are doing, both of these guys can be great backs. I understand if you want to have two great backs and have a run dominant offense where both guys are getting 15 carries a game.
Instead they pay them a ton of money to both get 5 carries a game, and let Cam Newton not win them a lot of games.

They need to trade one of those guys or something. Let one of them (I'd go with JStew personally) be the feature back.

It's you.
Definitely shouldn't have kept both, but that's why Hurney has been fired.
That said they're both very talented runners. Neither is really suited to running from a read option O though. Plus Newton has taken 5-700 yards away from them in two straight years.

If both these backs had played up to their contracts, the Panthers would have been in the playoffs.
I think the Browns were the last franchise with two 1000 yards rushers in the same season. Carolina should have been next.

3 teams have done that since the Browns, including the 2009 panthers.
