Cleveland at #6, Buffalo at #8 and Miami at #12. Doesn't drop further.

lol are you serious? If he deserves strong consideration at 12, why can't he/won't he go top 10? That doesn't make sense.

I always thought of Sanders as a quick, slot-type.
Short area quickness and separation definitely aren't addressed with 40 times. Wes Welker ran a 4.61.

Kenny Stills hitting 4.34. I like him as a day 2 sleeper.

I put him in the top ten in my mock about a month ago.

From a 4.56 to a 4.44. Technique accounts for a ton, obviously.

I did not expect Kenny Stills to run that fast.

I'm an OU fan, so watching Kenny run a 4.28 was unbelievable. I was expecting high 4.3's low 4.4's at best. Would not have ever expected a lower 4.3.

Seems like a lot more sub-4.4s than usual this year.

Seems like fast times this year. Those old guys like Gil Brandt tend to pull the trigger too soon.

Maybe they finally got the timer calibrated properly. I still think Poe's 40 was faster than the 4.9 official time last year.

Indeed. Unofficial times are always blazing then the official electronic times come out and are more realistic of the product displayed :)
Hand times should ALWAYS faster due to reaction time of the timer.

Wasn't Lane Johnson's unofficial time 4.75? Official was 4.72.

Indeed I should have said "should ALWAYS" rather than always. I was referring to the reaction time between hearing the gun/seeing the starting line crossed to actually clicking start.
Edited it in the original post. :)

Do you know how long seven one hundredths of a second is? It's not very long.
I would imagine that the uncertainty on the times (all times) is around .05 seconds.

just came in here to post this. this is what i dont understand about the official/unofficial 40 times. swope didnt run an unofficial 40 faster than 4.34 than gets "adjusted" to an official 4.34.
i was watching on nfl network and he didnt look nearly as fast as cordarrelle patterson (4.42), denard robinson (4.43), corey fuller (4.43), justin hunter (4.44) and markus wheaton (4.45).
those are all there "official" times. they all burned swope with their unofficial times. i dont get it.
EDIT: just looked it up: swope's unofficials were 4.44 and 4.38 and his official got FASTER while everyone else got slower. how does that work?

I don't disagree, but if there is a .05 "uncertainty" with "official" times, it's not much more valid a standard than the unofficial times.

I think the only difference between "official" and "unofficial" times is that the "official" ones are what gets published on the combine webpage (you have to publish something, the combine packet that goes out to teams has like five times, and teams usually hand-time everything with multiple people anyway, but if you put 10 different times on the combine webpage, you would confuse people.)
They're still just half-electronic, half-hand-timed times and any time you introduce a hand on a stopwatch to the equation, you're going to introduce significant uncertainty (5/100 of a second is just an estimate, it could be more than that.)
Will be nice when we can get fully electronic times at the combine someday.

It's all smokescreens, but it's a fun read.
