Pretty Flacco Salary Demands
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Total Access Monday night that Joe Flacco intends to target more money than Peyton Manning in contract talks with the Ravens.
Per Rapoport, Flacco and the Ravens will resume negotiations immediately after the Super Bowl. "I'm told his camp believes he is playing better than Peyton Manning," Rapoport reported. "Manning makes ($19.2M) a year; expect them to shoot higher than that." The $20 million-per-year figure is clearly Flacco's goal. The Ravens ought to be kicking themselves for not locking up Flacco when his asking price was more reasonable late last offseason.
hahah unreal, hes probally going to get it since the league is qb starved and hes a post season success. Ravens really messed up here, shouldve locked him up earlier. What are yall thoughts. Hes going to be leaving in my opinion.

Flacco should refuse to play without a long term deal. He's got that kind of negotiating power. I don't see him playing for a 1 year deal when there are teams in the NFL that would happily pay him long term.

You can ask the same question of any team with a top QB. Ravens and Flacco both gambled this year with the contract issue and really they will both win. Ravens get another SB appearance (maybe a win) as the fade away from the Lewis/Reed era and Flacco gets a large stash.

If he could consistently play at a high level this wouldn't be an issue.

Well let's see how that leverage looks after the Super Bowl.
What if he flops like a fish, throws 2 or 3 Ints.... goes Rich Gannon on us.

I agree...tey will probably franchise him for a yearor two until his tag number equals what he is looking to get. They could tag him for the next two years for about $31 mil.

If the Ravens use the non-exclusive tag on him, the Browns need to give him his 20 a year and send the Ravens the two firsts.
Such a good fit there.

I'm not sure where this number is coming from given that both Ozzie and Flacco have said time and time again that they haven't discussed his contract at all this season.

I thought he should get a deal around $16 million a year. But with a Super Bowl win, he could definitely command more. But of course he is aiming at 20 million. He won't get it, but the higher he starts, the higher he'll get.

Saying now his camp will ask for Brees contract which is 5 years 100,000,000! He shouldn't get more than 16 million if you ask me. But they wanted him to play it out he's gone HAM on them in the playoffs so now they're suck.

The Ravens would laugh in their face and take the picks with the utmost glee. Nothing has changed with Flacco. All he can do is throw a deep ball and hope Torrey Smith out-runs the coverage. He's a much luckier version of Rex Grossman.
Flacco has leverage until someone else steps in at QB and continues to produce wins.

I don't think its hard to imagine numbers have been floated to the Ravens by the agent. I find it hard to believe that Ravens have zero idea of the contract he is looking for.

This is funny to me. I'm so sure if you gave the Ravens Weeden they'd be in the Super Bowl.

I agree that nothing's changed. He's still being criminally underrated by people like you.
The Browns offense would shoot into the top ten with Flacco. He'd probably swing them from 5 wins to 9-10 by himself.
Meanwhile, the Ravens future would be a coin flip. Maybe they get themselves a shiny new Kyle Boller in the draft and party like it's 2007.
As for the Rex Grossman thing...c'mon. Admit you're trolling.

$20 mil a year??
Stop it Joe. I wouldn't pay him more than Roethlisberger got from the Steelers, 8 years/$102 mil.
