Not your typical Draft - 2 rounds
My first Mock -
I tried to keep it simple, but I did throw in a twist here & there.
If you like it great, if not I don't care. If you do disagree, have some sort of logical reason. I can take any kind of criticism, I can't take stupidity.
Here it goes.......
#1 over all KC - Luke Joeckel - OT - Texas A&M
Now with their QB situation worked out, A. Reid tries to keep him upright.
2 Jacksonville - Barkevious Mingo - DE/OLB - LSU
They desperately need a pass rush, their Pass defense was/is horrific.
3 Oakland - Shariff Floyd - DT - Florida
With FA they have basically nobody left at D Tackle - he'll certainly fill a hole
4 Philly - Eric Fisher - OT - Cent. Michigan
With a suitable QB for now, Chip Kelly wants a legit OT to give his QB time
5 Detroit - Bjoren Werner - DE - Florida St.
With Vanden Bosch & most likely Avril gone - this certainly makes sense.
6 Cleveland - Dee Milliner - CB - Bama'
They could go in several directions, but with Flacco resigned why not try & slow him and that offense down some ??
7 Arizona - Geno Smith - QB - West Virginia
Bruce Arians has a history of developing QB's and they certainly need one.
8 Buffalo - Chance Warmack - OG - Bama'
They too could go in a few different directions, but play it safe by picking a bulldozer to make a road for the running game.
9 J E T S - Dion Jordan - DE - Oregon
I struggled with this one a bit, but there's no doubt their pass rush was suspect last year.
10 Tennessee - Ezekiel Ansah - DE - BYU
Since Warmack & Fisher are both gone, they might trade down or attempt to improve their woeful pass rush.
11 Sunny San Diego - Lane Johnson - OT - Oklahoma
They need help with both OLine & Secondary - may take X. Rhodes here too.
12 Miami - Cordarelle Patterson - WR - Tennessee
Their "go no where" Offense needs a boost & they hope he will help.
13 Tampa Bay - Xaiver Rhodes - CB - Florida St.
They have major Secondary issues & his combine performance I think speaks for itself.
14 Carolina - Star Lotuleiei - DT - Utah
Even if his heart works out, I think he'll drop out of the top 10 as teams will be scared to take him but he won't drop much further than this.
15 New Orleans - Jarvis Jones - OLB - Georgia
Look who drops down!!! Rob Ryan gets a HUGE piece to starting his 3-4 D
16 St. Louis - Keenan Allen - WR - Cal
Bradford could use a little help & Fisher knows it
17 Pittsburgh - Kenny Vaccaro - S - U.Texas
Palamalu is at the end of brilliant career, so they draft for the future.
18 Dallas - Sheldon Richardson - DT - Mizzou
They make a play to get a disruptive force in the middle of their D-Line
19 NY Giants - Tyler Eifert - TE - Notre Dame
They need Secondary help, but with V.C. & X. Rhodes gone, they go a different route - why not make Eli unstoppable ?? This could be scary.
20 Chicago - Jonathon Cooper - OG - UNC
I pray that he drops this far, I hope they sign an OT in FA but they still need help on the interior OLine big time.
21 Cinncy - Alec Ogletree - LB - Georgia
They need both youth & talent at LB & they get it with A.O. but can he behave himself off the field? That's the question.
22 St Louis - DJ Fluker - OT - Bama'
They could easily go with LB or CB here but I think they want to keep Bradford upright & without further brain trama.
23 Minnesota - Jessie Williams - DT - Bama'
The return of the infamous "Williams Wall" makes it's return to Minnesota.
24 Indianapolis - Jonathon Banks - CB - Miss. St
Wanted Fluker, could go LB - but I think they will beef up their questionable secondary.
25 Seattle - Kevin Minter - LB - LSU
Could go a number of ways here - but since their offense seems to be in pretty good shape. I think they'll get a "go-getter" for their front 7
26 Green Bay - Desmond Trufant - CB - Washington
With Charles Woodson retiring, they need a young stud here. They may trade down since there is no OL pick left which they desperately need.
27 Houston - Manti Teo' - LB - Notre Dame
With Demarco Ryans gone & Cushing coming back from a big knee injury, they need a strong signal caller on D
28 Denver - Jonathon Hankins - DT - Ohio St.
Their pass defense was impressive, but their run defense was not great.
29 New England - Tavon Austin - West Virginia
Wes Welker might be gone, so T. Brady needs a new friend
30 Atlanta - Tank Carradine - DE - Florida State
They let go Abraham so they could use a little depth & upgrade on the DLine
31 San Francisco - Deandre Hopkins - WR - Clemson
Moss will probably retire & K Williams was inconsistent - so Colin likes this.
32 Baltimore - Eric Reid - S - LSU
With both Minter & Teo' gone they'll replace Ed Reed who is either gone due to FA or will return on the wrong side of 30 yrs old.
2nd Round - There is a pick or 2 here that I didn't list (Cleveland / New Orl)
33 Jacksonville - Robert Woods - WR - USC
Their pass attack was non-existent so they attempt to get a play-maker
34 San Francisco (from KC) - Damontre Moore - DE - Texas A&M
I've seen him as high as #5 on some mocks, but every year someone drops.
They need some help with FA going on with their DLine
35 Philly - Matt Elam - S - Florida
They might go with Amerson or Cyprien as well, toss up. But they need help with Secondary regardless.
36 Detroit - Larry Warford - OG - Kentucky
They need some help with interior OL & he's a safe choice.
37 Cinncy - Jonathon Cyprien - S - Florida International
They need a ball hawk on the D & his combine was unreal !
38 Arizona - Barrett Jones - OL - Bama'
They now have a QB, but they really need to get some CPR on their OLine
39 NY Jets - Matt Barkley - QB - USC
Rex Ryan sends a message to Mark Sanchez - "get your head out of your A$$ or else"
40 Tennessee - Eddie Lacy - RB - Bama'
Bounced around with this one, bottom line Chris Johnson is not getting any younger & he has put on a lot of miles (and yards) on those legs.
41 Buffalo - Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
After this next year they will give up on Fitzpatrick and move forward
42 Miami - Sam Montgomery - DE - LSU
If their OT situation via FA doesn't out they might go Pugh/D Thomas, but they roll the dice on S.M who admitted to "taking plays off" earlier
43 Tampa Bay - Datone Jones - DE - UCLA
With hybrid Defense he could put his hand down or stand up & drop
44 Carolina - Dallas Thomas - OT - Tennessee
Might go with WR here but maybe they'll try and keep Cam upright & exciting
45 San Diego - Alex Okafor - DE - U.Texas
Might take Amerson but on the other hand, with Peyton 2x a year this might be a better choice at this point.
46 St Louis - Kawaan Short - DT - Purdue
They get a bit of a steal here and could use a disruptive DT
47 Dallas - Justin Hunter - WR - Tennessee
I think Jerry is not very happy with the overall performance of Dez Bryant & here is how he says "be careful, or your gone"
48 Pittsburgh - Menelik Watson - OT - Florida State
They need some youth on the OLine
49 NY Giants - Margus Hunt - DE - Southern Methodist
Could be the next Justin Tuck, not to mention he's a mountain of a man at
6'8" and 290 lbs.
50 Chicago - Markus Wheaton - WR - Oregon State
I could see them going 2x on OLine or taking Ertz here but I think they need to get a true deep threat with D. Hester being a BUST of a WR
51 Washington - David Amerson - CB - NC State
Great pick here - good ball skills & a true all around athlete
52 Minnesota - Logan Ryan - CB - Rutgers
With Antoine Winfield at the "end of the road" of a good career they need some young blood
53 Cinncy - Giovanni Bernard - RB - UNC
Do they have an active RB on their roster ??
54 Miami - Zach Ertz - TE - Stanford
Same as 1st pick
55 Green Bay - Justin Pugh - OT - Syracuse
They get some much needed help & depth with their OLine
56 Seattle - Stedman Bailey - WR - WVU
The other guy that made Geno look good & they Russell a new toy.
57 Houston - Jordan Poyer - CB - Oregon State
They could a few directions here but I think their offense looked really good last year so I don't see them addressing anything this early.
58 Denver - Travis Fredericks - OG - Wisconsin
They need to keep Peyton healthy and upright
59 New England - John Jenkins - DT - Georgia
With Wilfork getting older this fits here
60 Atlanta - Gavin Escobar - TE - San Diego St
Tony Gonzalez very well may retire - so this makes sense
61 San Fran - Phillip Thomas - S - Fresno St
May need a little depth in the secondary, so I would say that he would fit.
62 Baltimore - Kyle Long - OT - some university
They want to keep their recent $120 investment healthy
X Factor here - EJ Manuel - where does he fall to ??
Ok - let me have it, give me your best shot.

Jerry isn't happy with Dez??? Did you see Dez play the last half of the year? He was the hottest WR in the league.

I don't see the Bengals taking the risk on Ogletree in the 1st. Give them Flucker since Andre Smith more then likely won't be back.

OT doesn't make sense for KC anymore now that Branden Albert has been tagged.

I hate it....Warmack in the 1st is ok if we let Levitre walk....but I hate the two overall rounds because letting Levitre walk to draft his replacement annoys me and taking Nassib is a waste of time IMO....
so i hate it....and you.....im kidding...but seriously...

Perhaps his 2nd half was better - but really was he the #1 that Jerry wants and needs ?? Jerry is not a patient man. That was my angle.

No offense taken, but it comes down to $$$$ with Mario Williams & Spiller tying up a whole lot of your cash if nothing else they'll draft CW as a safety precaution. Honestly I couldn't make sense of anyone other than Nassib & I did my homework.

Not a fan of Banks. If the Colts go CB it should be Desmond Trufant. However, I don't think we let Demontre Moore slip past us.

well, you got the needs of the 9ers correct, but I dont like the picks. I think we will address safety with one of our two picks if Goldson is gone, which it looks like, and Jonathan Cyprien would be a great pick. Plus, Damontre Moore, although it is great value does not fit our scheme. We need a 3-4 end and after benching 225 12 times, he doesnt have the strength to play here, and he doesnt seem to have the speed to be a devastating 3-4 OLB. Give us Datone Jones or Kawann Short instead.

Agree:
DB, DL, WR is perfect but damn the 3 players you picked at the position..lol
I'd rather have Elam or Cyprien @ 31 and then either Margus Hunt or Justin Hunter @ 34

I love Elam in rd 2, but in the 1st, I'd like to trade down. Rams fans, would you do #4 for #16, #22, 3rd, and 5th? That works on the draft value chart. Even taking out the 3rd and 5th for your #46 works. Would you do it? I'd want Tyler Eifert, Lane Johnson, Jarvis Jones, or Star Lotulelei.

I like Amersons upside but from a realistic standpoint its unlikely that Shanahan would draft a true junior. He's only taken 1 true junior since 2005 which was back in Denver in 2007 and hasn't taken any since being in Washington.

So we beef up our questionable secondary with a slow, questionable 2nd round corner/safety tweener in Banks? No thanks. Carradine, Moore, Trufant, Short, or Datone Jones would all be better picks.

Giants won't draft a TE that early. We've always done the plug and play method, see Boss, Pascoe, Ballard, Bennett. We've got the project Adrian Robinson and will probably sign a cheap vet in FA. we just don't use TE that much in our offense. Front 7 is by far our biggest need. I'd hate the 1st rounder. We desperately need a DE, I'm not the biggest Hunt fan, but i'd take it.
Realistically, any pick in the 1st after the giants outside of Te'o, the WR's and Reid would be much better picks.
Hell, I'd even take Reid over a TE round 1

I like the idea of taking one of the safest players in the draft, however, I dont think it fits with the roster, even if they lose Levitre in FA. They still have Urbik on the roster to start at right guard, they can bring back Rinehart who played very well to compete for the left guard spot, with K. Williams who will be in his 2nd year and C. Scott who will be in his 3rd year in the league, both are very reminicent of Carl Nicks, which is interesting because Marrone runs a Saints style offense, and utilizes the running game which is not one of Levitre's strengths. While potentially much better, Warmack is more of a lateral move IMO.
Pears will be coming back from injury and while a decent right tackle, I think Marrone would love to move Glenn over to RT and bring in a guy like Lane Johnson to play LT which upgrades both tackle spots, instead of upgrading one guard spot.
Bringing in Petine to run the defense makes a clear need for a hybrid style pass rusher, Jordan and particularly J. Jones make a ton of sense. They need an edge rusher. Could M. Anderson (who is already on the roster) fit? Maybe...
Patterson and Allen both fit the need at WR more as well IMO. Allen's route running and physical make up fit well, Patterson has a ton of talent, but his route running is very raw and he relies on his athleticism alot, they could go either way.
With the pressure packages they are very likely to run and the holes in the secondary, particularly at CB opposite Gilmore, I could see them going Rhodes (best press corner in the draft) or Trufant who I see alot of Revis in his game make sense as well.
So... While liking Warmack, I just dont see it right now, IMO the pick would come down to L. Johnson and J. Jones, if they are comfortable with Jones's medical he's the pick, if not Johnson's value and upside is the direction they should go in, he helps upgrade both tackle spots, upgrades the pass protection at LT, and upgrades the running game which with Spiller and Jackson is a strength. Marrone is form olineman, oline coach, and as evidenced by his style a coach who emphasises the running game, and likes to throw off the running game.
Nassib in the second obviously makes sense, although I would not be surprised based on Buddy Nix's comments that they like Tyler Wilson alot, if not more.

Mr. Poz51 - so what your saying in your epic trilogy of an explanation is that you like QB taken just not the one I gave you and still it still sounds like from all that you posted you have a LOT of "what if's" for your OLine. So my picks are still off ?
