March 7th Mock
Last mock I made was admittedly horrific, it was kind of lazy and I wasn't really up to date on the latest trends. This should redeem that one a bit I feel.

I won't complain if the Pats draft Fluker. We have a lot of other needs but I am a big Fluker fan.

I seriously doubt the Broncos draft a TE high, they signed two TE's last year to multi year contracts and they like their third stringer as well. Also, Elway said they aren't looking at TE's. But, at least you didn't use "give Manning more toys...."

Depending on how free agency shakes down. Not bad for Pats. How bout Connolly to C, Fluker at RG and Cannon at RT. Gronk lined up next to Cannon. Spread em out with the other receivers. Pull Mankins and give it to Ridley following him and wham!!

Kevin Minter in the 2nd rnd is awesome....
Taking Geno Smith at 8 would make me feel sick...I don't even think he is a 1st rnd QB IMO...Taking him top 10 would be a huge disappointment.

Not bad for the Pats, but I'm not sold on Patton in the 2nd.

Changed it to Lemonier, forgot I didn't have him go anywhere. Not the best fit at LE but best DE available there nonetheless.

I'd rather take Fisher over Joeckel. I don't see this slam dunk prospect when I watch Joeckel, and if Albert stays at LT then I'd much rather have Fisher, who looks like a perfect fit on the right side.
Either way though, OT is a big need thanks to the random release of Eric Winston, so you got the position right.

Why do you feel that way about Fisher and Joeckel? They have a very similar skill-set and have similar measurements. It's pretty much the consensus that Joeckel has more value, largely due to the fact that he faced high caliber opponents on a weekly basis and was more consistent than Fisher. Fisher had some bad games, particularly Ball State which critics of him say make him not as clear of a top 5 pick as Joeckel is.
Do you have any facts to base your opinion that Fisher is the better prospect on?

Been mocking Hunter to the Vikings for a long time, and I'm a big fan of Hunter as well, but his stock has fallen considerably so I just went based on where theyre ranked currently and most have Woods ahead of Hunter.

I'm not saying Fisher is the better prospect, I'm saying I THINK he is.
And Joeckel had some bad games too. Put on the Florida game, he gets absolutely crushed. He also had a lot of games where he didn't really pass protect. Teams were much more afraid of Manziel running, so he got by in a lot of games with doing very little.
I think Joeckel has a higher floor, but I think Fisher has a higher ceiling.

Give the packers lacy. I think we finally go for a RB. Other option would be a trade back, our GM loves them.

I like Datone Jones. I think he'll make an effective 5 tech. For the Colts I would probably prefer Carradine but I am pretty optimistic about his knee. I could see K Short or Fluker also being the pick, but Jones is a solid choice.

That Miami draft would be almost perfect if you gave Miami Carradine or Amerson over Poyer in the 2nd. He's just a little too small for what this regime looks for in CB's. Thomas isn't my favorite OT prospect, but he's the best that's left and the need is certainly there.

Amerson isn't really a physical corner and he'll almost surely have to go to a cover 2 team in the NFL. I suppose Poyer wouldn't really be a good fit, but not many of the day 2 corners are for Miami. Blidi Wreh-Wilson maybe late 2nd or early 3rd

AZ has far too many needs to trade up, Johnson is not that far behind Joeckel or Fisher

Who would you have the Redskins take there instead? Hunt would be an ideal scheme fit, is solid value, and is a position of need.

Where are you getting that Johnson isn't that far behind Fisher? Everything I've seen thus far indicates that the gap from Joeckel/Fisher to Johnson is pretty big. Not as big as Johnson to the next LT but still, I haven't seen anyone indicate that Lane Johnson would be worth the #7 pick, I even thought 11 to SD was stretching it but I think that's mainly due to his value getting artificially increased from the lack of solid LTs after him.
