2013 Miami Dolphins Offseason
Quote:
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Dolphins have agreed to terms with receiver Brian Hartline.
It’s a five-year, $30.775 million contract, with $12.5 million in fully-guaranteed money.

DG could you be so kind my dude and sticky this thread?
Good to have one starting WR locked up. Now bring us Wallace, Ireland!

Was surprised and happy to have Moore back too. 2 year deal is perfect as we can now ignore the position for the next couple years with Tanne, Moore, and Devlin.

Please Baby Jesus let Mike Wallace be a Dolphin by this time tomorrow.
And bringing us a guy by the name of Cook would be great too.

Ohhhhh would Mike Wallace and Jared Cook bring some speed to this O! Add Eric Winston at RT and that would be a PERFECT DAY!

Sounds like we missed out on Cook. Would love to see us go after Brandon Myers, honestly probably would have preferred him to Cook anyway. Ideally, Egnew vastly improves in year two but I have little faith in that happening after his first season.
EDIT: Apparently Dustin Keller in the mix too, feel about the same way about him as I do about Cook, not overly highly.

Remember the "Leadership Council" that went to Philbin to talk about keeping Ocho? Nobody expects Bush to be back, good chance Long finds more $$ elsewhere and Ellerbe signing likely means the end of Dansby. Overhaul of leadership complete.

Yep, Dansby is gone! Frees up almost 4 million but that will likely just go right to Ellerbe. So I guess we have around 15-20 million left in cap room?
Kinda pissed we couldnt seal the deal with Cook, but cant be too pissed I guess since he does have connections with Fisher.
But overall, very good day so far for us. Alot of excitement and no way we are done in FA. I'm guessing we will sign one of the top TE's, a corner, and either Long or Winston.

Sooooo, not entirely sure the reason for the LB corps overhaul. We didn't really upgrade, we just got equivalent players at similar prices that are younger. I suppose that was the point, get younger? Clear out the "old guard" and get "Philbin" guys?

We upgraded a little I think. The two new LB's are more explosive then Dansby and Burnett. Thats something that Coyle likes from his LB's according to one of the PBP guys. I would think the defense will be more aggressive next season.

I think Dansby and Ellerbe are a wash, but Wheeler over Burnett is a HUGE upgrade IMO. Wheeler is one of the better all-around 4-3 LB's in the league now. Was outstanding as a blitzer and in coverage for Oakland last season.
Some very nice pickups indeed. Really bummed about Cook though. Not too sure how I feel about addressing the TE position now. I would almost rather sign a blocking specialist and go with Clay as the full-time #1 TE rather than pay big money to guys like Myers or Keller.

Still haven't seen the terms on Gibson but I think he's a solid depth signing. Was worried they'd cut Bess after signing him but the fact that it hasn't happened yet makes me think they'll be keeping him. I like the one year, get healthy and prove yourself deal for Keller, allows us flexibility at the position, be it drafting another one or seeing if another offseason of development turns Clay or Egnew into a real player and then maybe looking for a new one next year.
Lots of good things being said about a return for Jake Long! That would put the icing on the cake for this free agent period to me!

Lets see how our offense has upgraded so far this season shall we?...
#1 WR? Hartline to Wallace? Upgrade!
#2 WR? Bess to Hartline? Upgrade!
#3 WR? Scrubs to Bess? Upgrade!
#4 WR? Matthews to Gibson? Upgrade!
#1 TE? Fasano to Keller? Upgrade!
Cant wait to see this new offense and how Tannehill looks with real talent around him. And have you guys seen the twitter stuff from the OL about trying to bring big Jake back? ******* awesome! Hope it gets done.

Barry Jackson said the Dolphins vision a plan for both Bess and Gibson.

Long picked the Rams with a 4 year/36 million contract on the table. I love the guy, but no, not at 9 million a year.
Your turn Jonathan Martin!

Damn, really wanted Jake back. Wonder what we do now, pursue Vollmer or Winston? Move up and get a tackle in the draft? Maybe we'll flip Martin and take Kyle Long in the second, give him number 77 and hope for similar results.

Supposedly Winston "really wants to play for Miami." That's strange to me since last year he wanted nothing to do with us. I like him but I don't want to overpay for a RT and I have concerns over paying someone who was cut twice in two years. I'm also not overly sold on Martin improving and being able to hold down the LT fort.

Here we go my brothers, the new Dolphins logo has arrived.
The team wont "confirm" it until draft day but this is the real day. The face masks are suppose to change from green to white and the uniforms are suppose to have the old school feel to them. All I can say is...ITS ABOUT TIME!

If Ireland can get us another seam threat TE and another WR who's a deep threat, we will be fine in the playmaking area.

Jordan isn't the best Dion in this class, that belongs to Sims. Jordan has never been asked to be a pass rusher, much more of a combo coverage type. Will be interesting to see if he can do it in the league. Jamar Taylor is an exciting player at corner, but there's not much else to write home about with the Phins draft.

You have to be the only person on Earth that thinks that draft was a D.
