Gruden loves him some Nassib:

Quote:
"If the Bills really like him, and they think he's the best guy on the board, why not take him at eight?'' Gruden said. Eight is where the Bills pick in round one. "Why take even the slightest risk he wouldn't be there later?"

Nassib met Smith, the presumptive top quarterback in the draft, three times. When they met for the first time, in Morgantown in 2010, West Virginia had won seven straight meetings in the series between the two schools. In the three meetings -- at Morgantown, Syracuse and Yankee Stadium (for the Pinstripe Bowl last December) -- Nassib won every one, by scores of 19-14, 49-23 and 38-14. Average margin of victory: Syracuse by 18.3.

In the three games, Smith out-statted Nassib, throwing for 295 more yards, but made more mistakes. Nassib's touchdown-to-interception differential was 7-1, Smith's 5-5.

I could tell by listening to Gruden he likes Nassib. A lot.

"Here's a guy who went 3-0 against Geno Smith,'' Gruden said.

Nassib went 3-0 against WVU. Gruden is smarter than that.

There was nothing really impressive about Nassib's performance in the Pinstripe Bowl,(11/23,130yds, 2 TDs/1 INT).

I'll say this for Nassib, among the top QB prospects in this draft Nassib probably played with the least talented skill position players.

I honestly think Wilson and Barks will be the best 2 out of this class. I wanted Oak to take either one, was really on the Wilson bandwagon for a while, until our more pressing needs came up on defense.

I'm not a huge fan of Barkley. I think Wilson might be the sleeper of the draft, though. Guy was a great quarterback before John L. Smith got his claws in him, before the season he was more or less considered the consensus #2 quarterback (behind Barkley, natch). I think he has the skillset, physical and mental, to be a very good player in the league if he's matched with a good quarterback coach.

Means absolutely nothing. At one point people had Andre Woodson going #1 overall; and while you can say John L. Smith sucks, how do you know that Wilson being "great" before wasn't simply an effect of playing in Petrino's system? Whats the difference between him and Brian Brohm?

A record of success against SEC defenses

I'm with you on Barkley who i think will be a good pro if he ends up with the right team. At best i see a Matt Ryan, at worst Andy Dalton.

I did some research on converting 3rd downs in the final full season of college and will have an article up on it soon, but to sum it up, all 10 of the playoff quarterbacks last year I had numbers for converted AT LEAST 40% of their 3rd down pass attempts into 1st downs (again, in their final full season of college). Also, every quarterback drafted since 2008 to lead his team to the playoffs also converted at least 40% of their passing 3rd downs in their final season in college.

Jones is one of the very few in this class, specifically the top guys, who hits that mark, along with Nassib, E.J., and Geno.

Also, you tried to question Jones ability to convert 3rd and Long, which is absurd by the numbers. On 3rd and 7+ pass attempts, Oklahoma converted 42.9%. That's not only incredibly high compared to this class, it's an absolutely insane number compared to all of the other quarterbacks I researched.

You should try to actually look at the numbers you attempt to cite before you cite them...
Hey thank you for looking that up.. I just dont get how Jones can complete 66% of his 555 passes have that kind of third down conversion rate and have only have like 12 sacks and 11 ints last year and still have everyone say his being bad a pressure is a fatal flaw.. the guy only averaged 4000 yards a year and 30 TD's a year for 4 years yet he is called a 4th round project and inconsistent.. The article I saw was from SB nation that ranked every one in the class for all these different situational pressure stats. Jones was number 1 at third down conversion and I forget how it read but he was top 4-5 for every one.. most people also dont realize that Jones averaged 545 passes a year for four years. 2183 times so yes he made a few bad decisions but not statistically out of the norm..

Barkley Nassib and Wilson are all interchangeable as QB's and so they may go later in the draft because of supply and demand.. They are all short 6'2 they are all limited in mobility they are all average arm strength, and average to good accuracy.. Nassib and Wilson 60% college career average Barkley is better at 63% completion.. Nassib has slight advantage on Arm Strength.. Barkly is four on my list and Nassib 5 behind Geno, Jones, Manuel
