He will be a bust. No motivation at all this season.

That's what I am afraid of. I don't think he will be a bust, but what if the hype is so much that he would never live up to it? It reminds me of the Reggie Bush hype. How rare of a talent Bush was supposed to be? He can run, catch and play special teams at a high level. How he was supposed to be a game breaker. It was almost as if people expected Adrian Peterson production for Bush.

My fear is that hype won't come anywhere close to his production. That's not even factoring bone spurs and motivation.

Doesn't matter. Best physical specimen at defensive end I've ever seen. NFL coaches will motivate. He's the Calvin Johnson of defensive end prospects.

The End.

Would their productions ever match? Megatron's production can do things. At 6'5 you can do whatever and still will get 1700 yards. You can negate a DE more easily than a WR like megatron.

Teams have learned to do that to everyone on our DL. Factor in degradation to the DL and opposing QBs have ALL day. Fewell doesn't blitz often and when we do NO ONE gets home.

Come on NYG, even if Clowney isn't fully motivated and is the next Mario Williams, Julius Peppers or Jevon Kearse that would be huge, with JPP, Moore and Kiwi that would turn our pass rush into a force again, even if Clowney isn't the next Reggie White.

Rosebud! When did your change your name? I was wondering who the heck CGF was? Haha

Moore hasn't proved anything except he can't stay healthy. Kiwi is average, and JPP is a shell of himself. We have 2 first rounds on the DL and now you want to draft another DE? That's the solution? We can't do anything, so let's invest yet another 1st rounder on the DL? If we draft him fine. I think we have other issues.

Let's actually blitz and supplement front 4.

Remember man you gotta prepare like a Browns fan for this. You start off 0-6 win some really meaningless games in the middle towards end of the year that you probably shouldn't win... Maybe one divisional game and an upset that makes no sense against a team plagued by injuries. Then there's the slopfest of a game you're evenly matched up against and maybe one more in there. You end 4-12 and you go "Sweet we ended on a somewhat good note with wins in the second half of the year!"

Then you instantly realize that your team is picking 4th or something, and for example, there is Andrew Luck and RG3 coming out and you don't have a QB (or in your case you need Clowney).

ITS ALL ABOUT PREPARING FOR THE WORST OF THE WORST.

Not sure you want to be mentioning Griffin and Luck in the context of this year's draft. It doesn't fit.

It was the example I was using.

Example - 2011 draft we really need a wide receiver, or DB to pair with Haden, like really really really bad. Win some meaningless games at the end of the year and end up missing out on both AJ Green and Patrick Peterson only to be left trading the pick away.

Example - 2012 draft - LOOK AT THIS SCHEDULE http://www.nfl.com/schedules/2011/REG/BROWNS We literally beat the Dolphins in the last second on a Massaquoi or Cribbs touchdown, beat the Jaguars as they have the ball on our like 5 yard line as time expires, and beat the Seahawks in one of the worst ******* games I've ever watched with Charlie Whitehurst starting. We lose those games like we probably should and were 1-15 (NOT TO MENTION WE BEAT THE COLTS, THE TERRIBLE COLTS, JUST GO 0-16 AND GET THE FRANCHISE QB)

Fast forward to 2013 draft - Start off 0-5 and look like prime candidates to pick first or second, end up dominating one random game against the Bengals. Win one 7-6 game against the Chargers in a rain/wind plagued game, beat the Steelers with Charlie Batch and their 1730891730821730 fumbles... Barely beat a bad Raiders team, and smash an awful Chiefs team.

WOOO WE WIN 5 GAMES AND MISS OUT ON A TOP PICK THAT COULD BE TRADED (we didn't need an offensive lineman really)!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Now do you understand the whole "Giants will win a few games and not get Clowney" relationship and how he will feel when it happens, DO YOU?

Even if some teams miss out on Clowney, Barr isn't a bad consolation prize at all. In fact, he might end up being better. If he tests as well as they think he will (around 4.5 flat rumored) he could grade out as well as Von Miller.

Clowney vs Barr is going to be like Watt vs Von. Who would you rather have?

Clowney is not like Watt. Watt is like Reggie White, Clowney is much more along the lines of Julius Peppers. I also don't think Barr's got the same quick-twitch ability as Von Miller; think he's like a more-powerful Dion Jordan in a lot of ways.

I wanted to use 2 players in the same draft class as a comparison.

Basically who do you want, the bigger dominant guy or the smaller dominant guy? Bc that's basically what it's going to come down to.

If you had to rank the players from best to worst how would you guys do this.

Mario Williams, Clowney and Julius Peppers.

Clowney quite possibly the most over-hyped draft prospect I can ever remember (been following the draft for 10 years) - he is never going to be what everyone expects him to be.

That's what I am afraid of regarding Clowney. Moreover, I felt the same way with Reggie Bush when he came out. I didn't think he would be successful in the NFL to match his hype. I think people expected him to do what Peterson was doing. Basically Peterson production meets Devin Hester special teams play.

I was on the Mario Williams train during that time. I thought the Houston GM did an excellent job.

Good call on Reggie Bush - his pre-draft hype is the only hype that can be compared to Clowney.

Clowney isn't half as hyped as Luck was.

I locked myself out of that account and had trouble getting an admin to change the email it was linked to so just started a new account with my original SN.

I'm all for more effective blitzes that don't start 5 yards behind the LOS 5 seconds after the snap, but you can't blitz on every play, especially with all of the quick routes teams rely on against us, as those blitzes just open space for screens and slants to become big plays. You need pressure from the DL. Which is why I don't get using Moore and JPP's injuries as a reason not to pick Clowney, if anything those doubts make Clowney even more useful and necessary for us. Bring in Clowney and a competent DC and this team's pass rush problems will be behind us, even if JPP has a setback, Moore busts and Clowney is "just" peppers/Mario/kearse 2.0

Cause our defense has actually been good against the run and the secondary do well given the **** situation they are put in. If we don't tank hard enough to get him so be it, but if we have a shot at Clowney and pass, that would be the single worst decision on Ross' sterling resumé

Mario Williams, Clowney and Julius Peppers.
Clowney, Peppers, Williams.

As for Clowney vs Barr i'd take Clowney any time. Barr might be a safer pick but he isn't close to Clowney talent wise. Just my take.

I see a ton of people saying he's over hyped and while I agree he's not the flawless prospect the media made him out to be this offseason but I still think he's a top 3 pick in this draft.

Do you not agree with that and if so where do you think he should go? What flaws do you see in his game that make him so over hyped and unlikely to succeed in the NFL?

Well he's getting a lot of hype, big time red flag...and he...ugh...dominates too easily?
