Under-utilized seems like it will be the number one phrase used in association with Lyerla this season and leading up to the draft.

Exactly. The lack of production will not only force Lyerla to leave after this year it will probably cause his stock to drop a bit.

You put up 66 points against Nichols and your TE catches 1 pass for 13 yards, hell i could do that. Mariota doesn't look for the TE, he reads his WRs and his RBs and then if he doesn't have anything he runs.

ASJ, on the other hand, has just as much upside. He isn't quite as quick or explosive, but he's fast and massive. Dude is 6'6", 265-pounds and athletic enough to play WR.

Both look like top-20 guys to me.

I don't think he dropped solely due to lack of production.

The fact that he made bizarre Twitter comments about the Sandy Hook shooting, was suspended by Oregon, then quit the team, then was arrested and charged for possession of cocaine likely had something to do with it, as well.

That said, the cat can ball.

I don't remember exactly, but I think it was something along the lines of claiming the Sandy Hook stuff was a government conspiracy to push gun control.

I can accept being skeptical of one's Government, as there are often....
But to say, have anything negative towards any parents of the poor precious little children who were butchered? That's insane.

Plus this guy was caught, supposedly allegedly, snorting coke.

Those are 2 very strong reasons to dislike this guy.

He pleaded guilty on that coke charge. Cops were doing undercover surveillance on a completely different thing and he pulled up and did coke in this car. Unfortunate timing for Coke Lyerla

Unfortunate timing? How about it's unfortunate that he's snorting coke altogether.

Unreal talent, but he's not someone I want on my team. Dude seems to be about as dumb as a box of rocks. Coke problem aside, he said that the Sandy Hook was a big conspiracy, and all the kids parents are liars. He quit on his team, and has been described as "overly emotional and prone to outbursts." Good luck with that Green Bay.

In the end, all the ability in the world means nothing without the mind to match.

Probably why he was an undrafted FA. The things he's been guilty have hurt himself more than anything else. Doesn't seem likes he's assaulted anyone or stole anything. My guess is it will not work out but he deserves the same chance that some hot shot QB would get.

I think Green Bay is perfect for him. Good locker room, small town, and it's a low risk reward move seeing as though he was undrafted and is just a tryout player at the moment.

Not surprising that he wound up with the Packers. Ted Thompson has always had a reputation for rolling the dice on character risks, even when he was in Seattle. Green Bay also has a strong Player Development Program that's run by Rob Davis (longtime NFL longsnapper) so they can try to get him whatever help he needs. We'll see if he accepts the help.

Lyerla is like a lotto ticket. You'll either hit the jackpot or throw it away.
