For reals. I halfway expect the actual Ryan Leaf to remove his Manziel mask and shout "gotcha!"

ESPN said that the kid's father gave him that brand new Mercedes as a present because he promised to quit drinking (prior to his Freshman year, so he's broken that promise a bunch of times already, btw). A $50,000 bribe to quit drinking makes me wonder whether Dad's buying all of son's stuff direct and not giving him walking-around money. It would make sense for the autograph money to be his "party fund."

Having known a few kids in high school who act the way Manziel does, this actually makes perfect, perfect sense.

From listening to that video on the ESPN link and going through the story, I get the feeling that the NCAA is no longer Manziel's biggest problem. I think those brokers can really extort him into a lot of bad stuff. This has gotten out of control, and I don't think this is the worst of it.

The irony of you attacking Manziel when you are a fan of one of the most historically unethical college football programs in hilarious.

How is that possible when most programs have a 40-60 year head start on the cheating.

That is a big stretch. If we go by violations, FSU has been on probabtion just once. If we go by arrests, they aren't even the worst team in their own state.

We were on Probation in the mid 90's and the late 00's for anything of enough consequence to warrant a scholarship loss. Historically Texas A&M is much worse than FSU has ever been.

I love how discussions about college players getting into trouble always turns to "but, but my favorite program isn't in as much trouble as this or that program".

Or when someone you root for like Jadevon Clowney's name pops up then the conversation switches to how these kids are exploited while the NCAA make money off their names.

JFF, Tat5, AJ Greene, Reggie Bush all dummies and all in the same boat, you know the rules, don't do it.

And yeah, colleges are making 10-100x more than these guys get for signing some stuff, in that case I guess don't accept the free ride to college. I know $ wise, it might not be the same, amount they should be paying tution, books, meals, board vs t-shirt sales(individually). I don't want to throw in tickets and TV and other merchandise, since that is more of a team/school reputation generating the popularity.

Hmmm, yeah don't pay tuition, what if these athletes had to pay for all their own stuff? Could they then sell themselves?

No, guys who aren't on scholarship still aren't allowed to profit off their image.

http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=9542030

Good article on how the league is looking at him. As a lot of the "haters" or realists, however you wanna look at it have said in here, his actions are extremely immatute and bring 20 is not an excuse. Multiple current and former execs chimed in, and stated so.

They also talked about comparing him to a Vick or a Russell and said he needs a system tailor made for his specific needs. He is short, and has a weak arm, and the offense will have to be tailored to short quick passes, and his ability to exploit a defense with his speed.

They basically said team's are weary of using a first on him. Hmm.. confirming what most here have said. Wait for the interview process, the film, and height. I bet he falls to the late 2nd-3rd.

If he had a cannon of an arm and accuracy, things would be different.

Or should he keep the weak arm, and grow taller?

Kirk Herbstreit was on Mike & Mile this morning and said one of the biggest misconceptions about Manziel is the belief he has a weak arm.
His very large hands apparently allow him to put excellent spin and velocity on his passes.

No he doesn't have a cannon, but I think Manziel's arm is on par with many QBs currently in the NFL, meaning once they drive their offense past the 50 yard line, they have enough arm strength to make any pass including the endzone.

No he doesn't have a cannon, but I think Manziel's arm is on par with many QBs currently in the NFL, meaning once they drive their offense past the 50 yard line, they have enough arm strength to make any pass including the endzone.
Its not about how FAR the ball travels, but how fast it gets there, which is a serious question with Manziel.

Herbstreit is borderline reta-rded.

Yep, it's all about velocity. The biggest misconception is that arm strength is measured by distance. There is no doubt in my mind that Manziel can throw the ball 50 yards down the field, but that doesn't mean his arm strength isn't a concern.

Nevertheless. I think his arm is adequate. Not in the Stafford or Flacco league but probably on a level with a Russell Wilson or a Tony Romo.
