Week 1 - Cincinnati @ Chicago
I don't know how much people frequent this section of the forum anymore, but we should get some conversation started if anyone is interested.
I'm disappointed with the team's performance, but still have high hopes for the rest of the season. So many mental errors on both sides of the football, this team needs discipline fast. I've been a supporter of Marvin far longer than most Bengals fan, but this Sunday reflects on him (and the specific few that made the mistakes) more than it does on the team or the franchise as whole.
I can kind of excuse Dalton's interceptions. If you ask him to throw the ball 33 times (especially with so many deep routes) it's more of a statistical probability that one will get picked off than it is a skill issue. And the second interception was kind of Green's fault. And I can excuse the receiver's fumbles (Both Green and Sanu's).
You can't really excuse the emotional outbursts though. Dre and Rey need to show self control in those situations. But even the emotional outbursts wouldn't have hurt us if we didn't also have the interceptions and the fumbles (and the wasted time outs because of 12 men on the field). This is Marvin's job - he has to make sure all these little mistakes don't pile up and defeat the team.
