A beautiful wall of gifs. I don't hate the trade itself, but the sum of their moves over the past two years is summed up in these pictures. The Factory of Sadness keeps humming along.

Well, the Browns now have the ammo to trade up for that franchise QB they so desperately need in the 2014 draft. Problem is they've been here before and blew it last year with the 4th and 22nd overall picks and the Rams shopping the rights to RG3 just two spots higher.

Remember the Julio Jones trade to Atlanta two years ago when the Browns held the 6th overall pick? The results are in for that deal.

For Jones, perhaps a top 5 WR in the NFL today, Atlanta sent a 1st round (27th overall), 2nd round (59th) and fourth round (124th) picks in the 2011 draft, and 1st (22nd overall) and 4th (118) round picks in the 2012 draft to Cleveland.

Cleveland received:

2011:
27th - Traded with a 3rd round (70th overall) pick for the 21st pick - DT Phil Taylor.
59th - Greg Little - multiple drops and traffic violations. Benched for Davone Bess.
124th - Owen Marecic - cut a year later and signed this week with the 49ers.

2012:
22nd - Brandon Weeden
118th - Traded to Minnesota as part of the Trent Richardson deal.

It's not a stretch to envision a situation in Cleveland where RG3 is throwing to Julio Jones or just staying pat in 2012 and taking Ryan Tannehill and Doug Martin without the need to trade any other picks.

Cleveland have basically turned the 6th and 4th overall picks in two loaded drafts into Phil Taylor and the Colts 2014 1st round pick (likely to be in the mid teens to early 20s range).

if josh gordon decides to continue his dumbass track record and gets kicked off the team, then holmgren/heckert officially get a hat trick for monumental ****-ups during the 2012 draft/supplemental draft. when you add to that the fact that we got greg little basically as the second round alternative to julio jones you wonder what the hell is wrong with these guys. i mean, it's a moot point now, we are cutting our losses which i guess is a good thing.

It's like Al Davis, Josh McDaniels and Matt Millen merged into some legendary fabled beast of incompetence.

Also, I hope this thread makes up for my lack of analysis for the later rounds in the draft this past year.

That's so awful. I feel bad for the Brown fans. I like that fan base. I have much love, and sadly sympathy for them.

Just atrocious waste of a decade.

Go back and look at our first round trade blunders...

We traded our 5th pick or whatever back in 2009 I believe so the Jets could land Sanchez, we picked up a bunch of ****** veterans and a 2nd round pick that was spend on either Veikune or Massaquoi, doesn't matter all 3 of our second rounders in that draft busted out (THANKS ALOT MANGINI). We ended up with Alex Mack who the team is afraid to give a contract extension to currently.

In 2011 we decided to not take Julio Jones, instead acquiring a kings ransom for the pick which we spent on Phil Taylor (good), Greg Little (sucks), and Brandon Weeden (old and ******).

Fast forward to 2012 (already talked about Weeden) where we trade up from #4 to #3 to take a ******* running back who we trade for a first round pick one year later.

Hell you could even go back to the days of Butch Davis or Savage, where we spent a second round pick to move up one slot or whatever to take Winslow... Or the Brady Quinn trade... Or trading draft picks for awful defensive linemen that busted out for us in 2008.

GO BROWNS.

Although the Browns lack a running game now, their 2 1st Round selections are not a bad consolation prize if they can snatch Hundley & Lee or Watkins. Just the thought of a new QB WR tandem to build on in the future is not as bad as it seems.

It gets worse. That 70th overall pick sent by Cleveland in the trade up for Taylor ... the Chiefs used that pick to select Justin Houston.

That old Cleveland regime was absolutely brutal. But again, you can't fault the new regime for mistakes the old regime made.

At least they drafted Joe Haden.

(who they almost passed on in favor of Kyle Wilson)
