Default The smart play. Cards should move on from Fitz.

Pro's: He's a leader, hard worker and one of the best WR's in the league. Has most likely the best hands in the league. And any defensive game plan starts with how to stop Fitz.

Con's: He's now 30 years old. Has a huge cap number. Looks a step slower than his younger years and was never really fast to begin with. Is starting to get nicked up a lot. And the offense zones in on him a little too much.

My view is you're coming up on that time where if you are going to trade him it has to be soon. With the age alone you're most likely not going to be able to get full value. Love the player, hate the cap number. It jumps to almost 18 million next year. The fact that Fitz's cap number is more than all of Green Bay's WR's combined is a problem for me. For me Fitz doesn't have that game breaking speed like Calvin does to have such a high number. Also Fitz is looking like he's losing that amazing jump ball game he had a few years back.

If you could get a late 1st or two 2's. The cards have to start thinking. Because the picks and cap space could help this team get a pass rusher, or a LT or the biggest need a QB.

All the reasons you mention are the same reasons he'd be tough to deal at this point. I think the most he'd net is a 2nd right now.

What would New England give to get him in there?

Nothing particularly substantial. Without a contract renegotiation the Pats wouldn't be able to afford to keep him on past this season. Fitzgerald is due a $12.75 million base salary next year, and the Pats are only going to have $15ish million in cap space next season before they trim some of the fat off their roster. With Talib, Spikes, Edelman, Wendell, and others due up it's not really a practical solution.

They can't even get the obvious guys like Nicks and Britt, they aren't going to go after Fitz. Would be nice to see him get a shot at a ring again.

To me if Fitz is to be moved it's kind of take your pick. You want money? Or do you want to win? He's not going to get both. If Fitz wanted to take a pay cut to play with Brady. Why not? The guy has made around 80 million so far. Plus were talking being paid 6.5 a season maybe 7. Not like making a vet min.

For all of us it would be nice for him to play on a offense that is functional. That has a Oline, a QB and maybe a TE.

Fitz seems like the type who would take less $ to go to a team like NE.
I'd personally hate to see it, but it's a dream scenario for those folks out there in Beantown

Go to Atlanta Fitz. Or Carolina.
Hell stay in the division and sign with the Rams or SF.

THe Pats would never appreciate how singular a talent Fitzgerald is.

Fitz gets at least a # 1 in return I'd guess from any team looking to deal with the Cards.

Fitz would be pretty awesome for the Rams, he's exactly what that passing attack needs and may be able to teach some of those kids to catch over the summer. Bradford would love him.

No one is going to honor that ridiculous contract.

Forgot about the Rams. That would be the best place for him to go. Bring him into a young team, locker room. Plus they'd be able to give the Cards the mid first they'd be looking for.

He's what the Rams O is missing. A superstar. Got everything else on it but that.

Making a division rival better like that would be a pretty unlikely move. I would think they could find a deal in the AFC.

They're not getting a 1st for him. If they do...that other team is beyond stupid.

Fitz is cool but he's not worth a 1st right now. Would take him in Oaktown though....not for a 1st however.

If Zona is willing to take Juron Criner and Darren McFadden...we got a deal!

Eh, I don't see why the Cardinals should move on from Fitz. Not every team can be like the Colts and tear things up. The Cardinals have a really good defense and some pieces on offense. They aren't that far away.

If in 2 years they have a young QB to build with they will want Fitz there to aid in the transition. Teams who get rid of their best players to rebuild often spend more time rebuilding than necessary.

Unless some team comes in with an offer too good to pass up then no way would I be looking to get rid of him.

Of course it's a smart move. They have a terrible QB and their offensive line stinks. Floyd is slowly developing and he's the only reason to even consider keeping Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald made his bed... He took the money over a chance to win.

No one is going to give up a high first or second round pick and then eat that contract on top of it. This comes down to money. Not talent or draft day value. He's too costly. If they could get someone to eat his contract and get a 1st rounder in return... They'd probably do it in a heartbeat.

I can't see Fitz going anywhere with that contract.

Oline help (and lots of it) would make a worst-to-first type turnaround possible in that division. Palmer isn't a good QB but he'd be serviceable with the offensive weapons if he had more than 0.7 seconds in the pocket. They really look like a team with everything in place except the oline. A young QB to groom for 2015 would be fine if they could add FA lineman and draft there, too.

I agree. They should move Fitz.

The dirty secret that no one wants to admit is how Fitzgerald is slowly becoming washed up. He's not the same player he used to be.

They should get what they can for him and let him be a great #2 WR option on some other team.

He's gonna be expensive though. But I think he can end his career in a Reggie Wayne type of fashion.

Browns have a lot of money, give up one of our third rounders and Greg Little for him :]

They should get what they can for him and let him be a great #2 WR option on some other team.

He's gonna be expensive though. But I think he can end his career in a Reggie Wayne type of fashion.
That's why I'd like to see him on the rams so much, they have explosiveness all over the place, they just don't really have anyone that Bradford has complete faith in because all of those kids still drop passes they shouldn't and aren't were they're supposed to be. Having a Fitz there would be huge for their young passing game and give Bradford a reliable guy who he can go to when he absolutely needs somebody to run the route they're supposed to run, how it's supposed to be run, and catch the ball at the end of it.

And given how much he's fading I don't think trading him within the division would be that big of an issue for the Cardinals if the rams are ready to give them a second round pick for the honor of taking on that contract.

You need that money to extend Joe Haden, Josh Gordon and James Cameron.

Eye on the prize brother.

The problem with moving Fitz isn't the compensation, it's the money. The man is being paid a ton of money from what I understand, and he's just not worth that kind of coin.

Decisions such as whether to trade or keep a great player like LF is why I'm glad I'm not a GM. Can Arizona trade him to the 49ers for their entire offensive line? [LOL]

Rams have got a ton of money and I think they don't have too many big contracts to hand out the next two summers. In the mean time Fitz would be huge for the development of all of those young receivers and even huger for Sam Bradford's sanity. So I think he'd be worth it to them, and then in two years time when they start to need that money for other guys they can cut him if he doesn't want to re-sign for less money.
