Default Big Ben wants to leave Pittsburgh?

Could a Steeler fan please tell me what the hell is going on here ?:

He's looked pretty disgruntled all year.

He's probably understandably frustrated with his supporting cast, especially the OL and lack of weapons. And now the defense is deteriorating. He's got that type of personality to be affected by those things.

And he clearly hates Haley.

The Browns couldn't possibly offer enough...

Arizona makes sense given the Arians connection and the predictable failure of the Carson Palmer experiment.

That does makes a lot of sense.

However, they'd likely lose a pick or two that needs to be used on OL help.

Ben would fly across the country to go from the worst OL to the second-worst OL.

They need better scouting on the O-line. It isn't like they haven't tried to fix their o-line as they have been spent a good amount of high draft picks on trying to solve the problem.

I would say letting Wallace walk and signing nobody to help Antonio Brown as an offensive weapon is probably what is pissing him off more than anything.

The steelers scouting department hasn't been good the past couple years and they've been cap strapped. Aging defense. They'll have some tough decisions but I'm not sure steelers would get a 1st round pick for Ben. Age and wear and tear on his body will factor.

You still need a franchise quarterback more than you need an offensive line. When you have the opportunity to get one, you have to do it.

Sure. I'm just saying from Ben's perspective it would be a grass is greener situation. He'd have markedly better weapons, reunite with old coach, but still issues up front.

Well, I'm sure the Steelers after letting so many offensive weapons go can afford to sign some guys....

Pittsburgh Steelers 2014 Salary Cap
TOP 51 $129,858,582

Dead Money
TOTAL $4,551,265

Oh. Well that's not good.

Seriously though, I figured Santonio Holmes would find his way back to Pittsburgh like Antwaan Randle El and Plaxico Burress did.

Not just an aging defense - they have spent quite a few picks over the past few years to address the defense and not many have panned out. They have been unable to replace guys like Hampton and Smith up front. Hood and Heyward were both first round pics that have underperformed. Timmons was probably the last first round pick on defense that has been an impact player. Colbert's lack of interest in investing in the offensive line - especially at the tackle position has hurt as well. Ben can only take so many hits.

Well they should actually get to use the OL that they spent the 7th overall pick on next season.

Bens going nowhere. I think it leaked to get Haley out. Also, it's over a 14 million dead money on the cap.

Ben isn't going anywhere. Haley's definitely getting fired at the end of the year, LeBeau will be encouraged to retire, and Tomlin will be on a very hot seat going into next season.

Colberts shown plenty of interest in upgrading the OL. Plenty of 1st and 2nd round picks, they just havnt played well.

Take Mike Adams in the 2nd was a massive joke. He was pretty brutal to watch at OSU, not sure how or why people thought he'd be a good pro. But Pouncey and DeCastro in the havnt gotten much return and they've both spent a bunch of time injured.

They have spent a good amount of picks on OL some just haven't panned out. Busts and injuries. You can't say they haven't made the effort to improve in the draft.

The last guy the Steelers can afford to lose.

Without Roethlisberger, the Steelers are (almost) the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If LeBeau retires, is Tomlin going to try to switch to a 4-3? They don't really have a great NT, and Timmons is more of a WILL than a 3-4 ILB.

That's just my guess. If Spence comes back strong, he could play a LB role.

I have no idea. It wouldn't surprise me at all, but I guess we'll see who gets hired. I always figured the plan was LeBeau retires and they promote the LB coach and keep the 3-4 but with the way things have gone the last two years I can imagine Tomlin is less than happy watching his job getting put on the hot seat mostly due to a defense that's not his creation.

The offense needs fixed and I'm expecting an entire new coaching staff there, but watching LeBeau defenses lose plenty of games the last two seasons has to atleast make Tomlin think it could be the perfect time to make his real mark on the team.

I'm not sure they have the personnel for it. But at this point they don't have it for a 3-4 either so that's probably not a factor. Rebuild mode is coming, just have to decide on the blueprint.
