If you go undefeated in the Big 12, Pac 12, ACC, or Big 12, you should get in over a one loss SEC team every time without question. Style points I think only really matter when it's a question of teams with the same record. I think Jim Tressel and several other people have said that November isn't about style points anymore, it's about surviving.

In this situation if OSU wins out, no matter there terribad schedule, they should be in the national title. They did what they were asked to do, I hate the "style" points argument even though it is a very real thing, a win is a win in my book despite the media bias towards teams winning by 35+.
"Their" terribad schedule is still better than FSU's terribad schedule. And about to improve.

Not that I care. Win this game, and OSU is in.

If OSU wins they're going to the NC, I don't even understand what the **** this Auburn dicussion is about. Is someone actually thinking that won't happen? Or is someone suggesting that Auburn just deserves to go over OSU? Which really is just as ******* stupid.

I don't know why people are carrying on so much. It's FSU vs OSU is they're both undefeated. You're just being suckered into media created talk fodder if you think otherwise. The more interesting topic is what happens if OSU and/or FSU lose this weekend.

An interesting side note is that Michigan State or Duke might actually be costing their schools money if they win on Saturday.

It's ESPN. They have 2 reasons to campaign for Auburn. The first being that controversies are good for viewership and discussion on their shows and the second being that they have a substantial monetary interest in the continued success of the SEC.

Why do people reference FSU's schedule so much? They freaking dominated every team they faced. If FSU struggled through some of their games like OSU did then the argument may have value. *shrugs*

OSU is making it if they win but lets not confuse the way #1 FSU and #2 OSU went undefeated. Both played lousy schedules however one was never in jeopardy of losing and the other just survived by 1 against a Michigan team that lost to Penn State. :/ I has a sad.

I absolutely agree about the "style points" comment. If OSU wins they definitely belong in the NC game given there are two undefeated teams in the country from major conferences. However when looking at FSU and OSU it is easy to define which one is #1 and #2.

Also - depending on which model you use the S.O.S for FSU and OSU are pretty even. Some slant in FSU's favor and vice versa but overall both rate them somewhere between 40s and 60s. Hell even preseason FSU was rated as 65th and OSU 68th. You are splitting hairs to say either one was more difficult than the other.

I think the general point is people saying OSU didn't play anyone, when FSU had a similar schedule, thus making that point worthless.

Yeah, I have no problem with OSU being #2. FSU has dominated their competition.

WRT the game this weekend, it will be interesting to see how Miller does. MSU is going to sell out vs the run and force OSU to throw it.

Also Dantonio loves to roll out a well timed and perfectly executed trick play or three. As does Meyer. Should be fun.

Crappy MSU OC vs crappy OSU DC.

It is a great matchup. Strength on strength, weakness on weakness. Ohio State's rushing game is so dominant, and Michigan State's front seven/run defense is top notch, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

You're dead on with the strength on strength/weakness on weakness point, but I think Michigan State's offense is a lot worse than OSU's defense.

Well the thing is their biggest strength on offense is lining up and running the ball at your with a power run game, and that's exactly what Ohio State is good at stopping defensively. They're gonna have to get creative in the passing game like Michigan and Cal and Iowa did to score consistently.

The screenshot the petition uses is supposed to show Davisí foot touching out of the field of play, even though it doesnít. Davisí foot isnít on the ground in the screenshot. Plus, despite the pandemonium at Auburn, officials easily couldíve determined by replay that his foot was out of bounds.

Missouri/Michigan State.

I can't imagine the voters allowing another SEC re-match, and this time the BCS formula is controlled by the voters much more.

i'd assume that an okst victory over oklahoma this weekend would keep them solidly ahead of sparty. same goes for stanford vs arizona st. but realistically I think we'd see Mizz/Alabama. it's not actually a rematch at all

Dunno, a victory over OSU >>>> victory over Okie. Huge SOS boost for MSU as well as huge voter momentum.

I LOVE this argument made by every SEC fan ever.

This from a fan of the conference who had two top 10 teams **** the bed this year with losses to out of conference teams (so don't give me that bull **** about it just proving how strong the conference is)

Georgia and Florida might have had a hard time beating Indiana this year.

Texas A&M couldn't win a big game if their lives depended on it.

The only arguments you have are LSU, Bama, SC, and Missouri.

Auburn didn't play SC and Missouri during the regular season but I don't think there is a clear winner in either of those theoretical match-ups.

So we are down to LSU and Bama (At most 2 losses). We could debate these two all day but I think the point being the only way to decide them would be on the field i.e. not the clear losses for OSU that you make them out to be.

Furthermore, one might have said the same thing about Mizz 2 years ago or even last year and last I checked they had a pretty good shot at winning your conference.

Finally, I understand knocking OSU for their schedule; but when did strength of schedule dictate a teams talent level. This team is talented and deep. In fact, they have enough talent that despite a weak schedule, voters saw fit to put them at #2 to start the year.

blah blah, SEC fans say that every year. We would be undefeated with Missouri's schedule. As far as Auburn's schedule, we'd probably lose one between LSU and Alabama, but that's about it. 3 or 4 losses, gimme a break. Ohio State is very talented. Missouri and Texas A&M were mediocre big twelve teams before they joined the SEC and are instantly better.

Missouri and Texas A&M were mediocre big twelve teams before they joined the SEC and are instantly better.
Imagine a brand like THE Ohio State University with it's recruiting power along with the increased recruiting power of the SEC. Kids would be tripping over themselves to commit.

If your going to create a hypothetical scenario (SEC fans) you have to consider all the theoretical possibilities of that scenario, not just the ones that fit the conclusion you want.

I truly believe OSU would supplant LSU as the #2 team in the conference and possibly even Bama having both a pipeline from the north and in this scenario the south.

Who knew theory crafting could be so fun!!!

The biggest question is if OSU would oversign or not.

Georgia (admirably) does not.

Urban didn't really oversign at Florida, who believe it or not is an SEC team. So there's that. He practices the art of nudging incompetent players out the door though, moreso than Tressel at least, which is what Alabama and LSU and Auburn, etc. are notorious for doing to the max.

This might be weird but I am hoping that somehow FSU loses to Duke so that an SEC team DOES end up in the NCG.

I say this not because I harbor any ill will toward FSU but because I know that if OSU wins (or even if FSU wins) the argument from the SEC circle jerk will be that whoever won wouldn't have won against an SEC team or that it finally took some sort of anti-SEC conspiracy (the irony is blinding I know) that left the SEC out of the title game to end their reign etc. etc.

Yeah if there's ever a year for an SEC team to lose in the championship game it's this year. Auburn or Missouri would be the worst SEC champ in at least the last 7-8 years.
