Mario is an absolutely amazing athlete. But his testing numbers were better than expected because he doesn't play quite that fast. He probably had one of the most impressive combine ever alongside guys like Vernon Davis and Calvin Johnson.

Since when are teams running straight at Clowney? I haven't charted the numbers but as far as the eye test goes it seems teams are avoiding him at all costs. This is also the opinion of almost every analyst I've seen and I think you're the first person I've seen say this.

Plus Mario was a very blah player at ncst, and never really dominated like a freak of his magnitude should.

Yes, I'm sure you watched many NC State games to come to that conclusion. Not to mention that Manny Lawson was at the other DE spot and had 19.5 tfl, 9.5 sacks, and 14 qbh. I get so tired of people complaining about Mario's effort on the field. I'm glad he had a decent sophomore campaign. The expectations would have been through the roof and you know DAMN well that he wouldn't be getting the same passes as Clowney is getting right now.

Stephen Tulloch was taken in the 4th round that year. McCargo was an uber bust, but he was a damn beast in college.
