I didnt even really think of that. I don't think it'll happen though. Either Baylor or ASU losing can lock it up but it already doesn't look likely after the NIU loss.

Orange will hav the first pick to replace FSU and take Bama.
Rose would have the 2nd to replace OSU, and I think they'd go MSU if they're still top 14.
Orange picks third, Clemson is the obvious choice for them. Sugar would take Oregon over Oklahoma or Ok St, and Fiesta is left with having to settle for UCF.

What's the point of this argument? You're basically conceding that SEC teams are superior, except they might not be when they play in unfamiliar and inclement weather. Obviously cold weather teams will be better adjusted to cold weather.

Travel time takes a big toll on your body, too. Flying from Illinois to Jacksonville for the gator bowl is so much easier on you than going from South Carolina to Jacksonville.

Auburn has a passing play with Statue-Of-Liberty-Action as the playfake. I don't even know.

Baylor won't drop below Michigan State if Michigan State also loses.

All it would take is Arizona State winning, and Central Florida or Oklahoma jumping them.

No....SEC teams are superior when they play nothing but home games, which would be the case for the B1G if every bowl game was played in the north. It's inherently unfair.

If the games were 50/50 home and away the results would look a lot more like it.

Not sure about this. Pac12 teams don't travel outside of the West Coast, which is why they play so few games away from it.

Don't you love how teams will drop in the rankings when they lose to a higher ranked team. Poll politics. A ranked team will drop even if they lose a close game to a much higher ranked team in the higher ranked team's home stadium.

polls are ******* dumb and this should be known. unfortunately, with 10.5 (independents?) conferences in college football and no other way to determine who gets into the coming playoff, they will continue to rather arbitrarily rank teams based largely on their preseason rank

I wonder just how bad muschamp and kiffin are/were, considering how much talent their schools collected, compared to their records.

I mean, Florida and USC (and Texas for that matter) have accumulated as much talent these past 4 years as FSU, Ohio State and Alabama, but they're noticeably worse on the field.

Firstly, the difference you're referring is usually nothing more than an hour or two via plane, not exactly coast-to-coast. Secondly, this isn't the regular season. The teams travel quite a few days ahead of the game itself. Any jetlag would be null.

This is such a cop-out. Most bowl bound Big 10 teams have well-traveling fan bases. They may be outnumbered overall, but it's rarely a large and meaningful difference. In addition, a large number of tickets are bought up by locals who aren't fans of either team. I can't recall any recent major bowl game between the SEC and Big 10 where the crowd had any noticeable factor in favor of the southern team. I already stated why distance for the teams is irrelevant, and the weather benefits neither team as Big 10 teams still have plenty of experience in the temperatures expected during bowl season down south.

You're right in saying that if the SEC had to play up north in the winter during potentially frigid conditions with which they have no experience, Big 10 teams who do have experience with such weather will be provided with an advantage. But that doesn't automatically mean Big 10 teams are disadvantaged when they travel down south.

*Eye roll*

In addition to traveling and skewed fan base, my point is that southern schools only have to play in their own conditions. Can you imagine if the Dolphins would only play when it's 50 degrees or up? It's a joke.

Just because B1G schools are accustomed to playing in lots of conditions doesn't mean SEC schools shouldn't also have to do the same thing.

Calling it a "cop out" because your favorite team enjoys the privilege of never really playing a road game is itself a copout.

Also, O/U 100 points for the Auburn-Mizzou game? With this pace, I'm going with well over.

An hour or two in a plane does a huge number on your legs. Even when you get there a few days early it's really tough to recover. Jet lag is something rich white guys say they have to stay home from work, it's the changes in altitude (even in a pressurized cabin) and the whole process that limits athletic performance.
