Sounds like a borderline 1st rounder or an early 2nd rounder at this point. Of course, that can all change once the post season starts. For prospects like Bortles, the post season will make or break him.
I guess it would be asking too much to have you form an opinion that doesn't originate out of NFL.com. Surprise us some day.

I'm not a fan of Bortles at all. He's got really slow mechanics, questionable accuracy and arm strength and puts very little "zip" on his throws. He's got kind of a long delivery as well. All that does not bode well for his ability to translate into the NFL.

Just not a fan of him at all. He's just so raw, there's some stuff there to work with and as a 2nd or 3rd rounder I may take a chance I could develop him. But as a top 10 selection, I'm not even considering him.

I don't see the big arm I see with other QBs like Ben Roethlisberger or Jay Cutler had coming out. When I'm watching him he has some characteristics or Luck, and some of Tim Tebow. As a prospect, he's not Tebow-trash, but he's not Luck either. I wouldn't even rate him close to Locker as a prospect.

I've got him a 2nd/3rd rounder and that's based almost solely on his potential.

The funniest part of Brooks' report is saying the sample size for Bortles' clutch factor is small. UCF had six come from behind wins. That is a pretty big sample size. He also mentions how Bortles didn't play great against Missouri and Ohio State. Those were his second and fourth starts.

As for mightytitan, his accuracy issues are very fixable. He often throws high but it's more of a case of poor lower body mechanics than just being inaccurate. His arm is plenty strong. I don't know what games you've watched, but he is a very good deep ball passer. He throws a lot of bubble screens and slants put good zip on those throws from what I've seen. Does he have Cutler's arm? No but few people ever have. I'd say his arm is stronger than Luck's.

In my opinion, if Bortles gets his mechanics fixed, he has the highest upside of any QB in this draft. I would love for him to fall to the Bears. Marc Trestamn could fix that and we'd get a franchise QB late in the first.

Agree to disagree I suppose. Even his slants and screens seem slow to develop. His arm is decent, not saying it's bad and it's one you can win with, but it's not impressive. His accuracy is off, but his balls also tend to flutter and the spirals aren't tight alot of the time. He has slow mechanics and slow release which even in college leads to defenders being able to make plays. Misses reads on the defense at times. The list goes on and on.

I'm primarily talking about the 3 games I have went back in and focused only on Bortles. Those were South Carolina, Penn State and Rutgers.

Due to the wobbling passes, and some of how he maneuvers the ball I've also got concerns over his hand size.

He does do good on rollouts and such, and if Kyle/Mike Shanahan or Gary Kubiak are in new places this season I could see Bortles being a QB that would play well in that system.

I'll continue to watch him and break down film specifically of him, but I still come away unimpressed

In all the tape that I've watched of this guy, I've seen a mobile QB who isn't afraid to get physical, has a good arm and is deadly accurate on the move. His pocket presence is good but can be improved and I like his footwork. His offense didn't require him to make the traditional "NFL throws" but looks like he can make all of them.

I see him as the best QB in this draft and a better prospect than Ryan Tannehill was. This guy and Tom Savage are my top 2 QB prospects. Tom Savage does not get enough love.

Bortles seems to be held back by some ultra conservative play calling. I think UCF is just scratching the surface of his ability.

I actually feel there are some similarities between Bortles and Andrew Luck. Of the two, Luck was more athletic and had a stronger arm, but I like that comparison more than the Ben Roethlisberger one people have been floating around, which seems to have been based mostly on their builds more than anything. As with Bridgewater, I feel like Bortles' arm strength leaves a bit to be desired, but I was impressed with his overall decision-making, timing, touch, and anticipation as a passer, which I felt did a good job of masking what is basically an average to above-average arm.

If BOB does take the Texans job. I wouldn't sleep on Bortles claiming the number 1 overall pick. O'Leary is Bill O'Brien's mentor and BOB had a lot of great things to say about Bortles both before, and after, the Penn State game this year.

Also, when you Google Blake Bortles, you get tons of pics of his girlfriend, a la Ryan Tannehill.

Too much distraction.. O'Brien, the disciple of Bill Belicheck, could not handle it.

Marone Praised Nassib, didn't draft him.

Not saying it can't happen but if you are looking for the better prospect it's Bridgewater.

He's missed on so many boneheaded throws and missed deep quite a few times. Maybe he's coachable, but taking him in the top 15 is Gabbert-like.

Bold take. I'll agree. He screams Blaine Gabbert 2.0.

I'm still a big fan of this guy. He's still thrown a number of accurate passes on a rope this game, which is one of the things I love about him. His first interception was a bad throw, but the second was just an unlucky deflection. When he has missed its for the most part only been inches off. It obviously hasn't been a career game for him so far, but I'm still confident with him being my number two quarterback prospect. I really don't understand the Gabbert comparison, he's not even close to being as bad under pressure.

Just for clarification, that was never a prospect comparison, it was a statement that taking him that high is just as foolish as taking Gabbert that high, when we all were pretty sure he'd be terrible. He lacks the same pocket schizophrenia, obviously. But to take a guy that isn't close on some of these throws in the first HALF of the first round?

I have a hard time believing that top 15 talent is capable of putting on this type of performance in a big game. Just because he's your #2 QB prospect doesn't necessarily mean he's round 1 worthy. I happen to hate this QB class and don't really trust anyone yet, maybe Jimmy G.

You mean other than the fact they both look the part, have nice stats, and throws soft in the middle of the field? I'm not on this bandwagon, y'all can have this one.

What do you mean "throws soft in the middle of the field"? Bortles has been throwing darts over the middle, both this game and throughout his career. That's definitely not a problem for him.

Overall, there really aren't many meaningful similarities between Blake Bortles and Blaine Gabbert. Not sure where you're going with this one.

Physically, I think Gabbert isn't a horrible comparison. Prototypical size, above average athlete, and a good but not great arm. But Bortles isn't a ***** in the pocket while Gabbert pisses his pants whenever a defender breaths on him.

I was just telling Shane on twitter he reminds me of a young Matt Hasselbeck, on the right team in the right system he could be a pretty good pro QB. I still think the best thing for Bortles would be to fall to a team like Chicago.

Pretty much. The biggest problem I had with Gabbert is that he looked scared, even in college he wilted under any semblance of pressure, and I don't see that with Bortles.
