Tuitt is definitely slow off the line. I watched the Navy/ND game specifically to see how he got off the line because it was imperative vs. the triple option. He didn't look all that great in that game, though they mostly ran away from him and tried to cut block him.

That's the biggest thing he has to work on to me. Getting off the line fast and doing it with explosion.

Physique wise he reminds me of Richard Seymour. Not as good a player. But, if he can keep his weight down to 300-305. I think he can be a very good player. I'd take him if I'm the Pats.

I don't think you're going to see much explosion from the defensive line facing a triple option attack. The D Line needs to stay low and keep their hands free to ward off the inevitable cut block. Firing off the ball opens D Linemen up to devastating cut blocks versus a triple option attack.

I meant explosion in general (why its in the 2nd paragraph). But against Navy, I was just looking to see him literally get out of his stance quickly. He got better as the game went on and didn't allow himself to get cut as much.

I think some are being a little overly critical of Tuitt. Sure he hasn't set the world on fire but he was out of condition and coming back from injury.

The kid is just 20 and I think there is a ton if potential once he gets into a pro strength and conditioning program.

I agree. The five tech is his natural position, but I could very easily see him playing either spots inside in a four man front.

just draft him as a 5 tech and remove all conversation and doubt weirdness entirely.

Tuitt didn't look particularly tough is past season, maybe as Scott said, he just wasn't in shape but it has left some doubt in my mind.

honestly i think tuitt shouldnt have played till like halfway the season or at least in the nfl he wouldnt have, too many other DL injuries for ND at the same time. He definately didnt play up to his sophomore level due to the injury. Do think he is better suited to play in a 3 man front but does offer some versatility there (can play inside quite well on passing downs for instance). Main thing to consider is, he is a run first defender who can still generate pass rush. Its not a sack wizard like some other guys but he is a damn good pass rusher for someone who isnt a pure rusher. Its a bit of a conflict for me as a saints fan as i absolutely love me some tuitt but saints really dont need him

If the Pats want back to the 3-4... this guy fits what they look for.
