As much as I would love a WR in the first two rounds, I honestly could see the Steelers waiting. Here's what I could see:

1) Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan State
2) Stephon Tuitt DE Notre Dame
3) Telvin Smith LB Florida State
4) Devin Street WR Pittsburgh
5a) Jerick McKinnon RB Georgia Southern
5b) Ross Cockrell CB Duke
6a) Prince Shembo OLB Notre Dame
6b) Seantrel Henderson OT Miami
7) Trey Millard TE/FB Oklahoma

I never complain about building a strong defense, so if they take guys that I think will fit into that there won't be any complaints here.

That said, I want a receiver. If not now when? Are we ever going to give Ben a true #1 target?

I thought I was the only one who like Telvin Smith! Finally someone else sees it, too!
I think he could be great for us, kinda like a LBer version of Polamalu! Shazier sounds kinda close but I like that Smith was considered a vocal leader on the field.
I keep hearing that he'll be a second round, early third pick so I'm not sure he'll be there at our comp 3? My dream would be a trade down for an extra 3rd so we can get him!
I do think we'll go WR before our 5th round, but I agree that it might not be as high a priority as we thought.
Tuitt and Smith would be awesome for our D! And Mickinnon is turning into my "gotta have" player this year!

A recent mock has us taking Barr at 15. For the same reason you said, to stockpile a weak position and build up on D. What do you think of that pick?
I think Moats strengthens the OLB so I don't want another #1 OLB.

If Barr is the best available player on their board, I take him just in case. I wouldn't be excited about it but you can never have enough pass rush in this league.

Im happy with Jones and Worilds for the foreseeable future, if they are worried about depth draft an olb from round 3 onwards...or sign deebo for vet minimum

Just saw a mock from draftinsider that has us taking Marqise Lee #1, Troy Niklas #2, and Ed Stinson #3.
I don't like this one!
Lee is good but that extra something is missing from his tape that I want in our #1.
Niklas in 2, no way, we need a CB.
Stinson in 3 makes sense, he sounds like Steeler!

I wanna mention he has KBenjamin going IN THE 3rd!

There's the matter of keeping Worilds for the future. If Barrs there and the other guys we've discussed plenty of times arnt, then it's not bad. Can't get to the QB enough ever. But I think there's gonna be a better fit sitting at 15 for us.

I also believe the Steelers leaked out they are interested in Lewan as a ploy to trade down. The Dolphins seem to really like him. If he is there at 15, I'd try and move down four spots while acquiring another second or third rounder. Then we can take whoever we want.

if barr is there at 15 we're sprinting to the podium to grab him

worilds is only locked up for a year. barr is a freakish athlete and would be a steal at 15

letting worilds go after this season would give us a good comp pick + cap room to sign one of the FA's of next years packed class

I'm starting to think Worilds won't get signed to a long term deal this offseason. I was pretty sure it'd happen, but not anymore. I think the team will want him to prove himself again this year, and understandably so.

That being said, I'd certainly like Anthony Barr if he were the pick. As you mentioned, he's a hell of a prospect and would allow us to use up a good chunk of cap room. Not at the top of my list due to need, but based on potential he'd be close to the top.

Those guys get me excited when I watch them. As I mentioned above, I'd love Pryor, even with the Mitchell signing and with Shamarko still improving. The guy can play.

Bryant is more perplexing to me, physically he reminds me of Josh Gordon, or Stephen Hill. Hopefully he's more like the former.

Barr is great athlete, only two years at this position. Would be a great addition to bring speed and athleticism to the team.

another possibility if we draft barr is we keep worilds and move jones inside

that would be a crazy athletic group of linebackers

We wouldnt have released Wood if we didnt intend on resigning Worilds. The Steelers arent the type of team who would move forward next year, with Jones (who hasnt proved himself yet) and a rookie who will likely recieve little playing time this year. Its not how they roll. Plus im getting flashbacks of Bruce Davis

The released woodley so they could rent worilds for a year. I dont think theres any way they sign him before this year.

If he has a huge year they can franchise him next season, but i dont think worilds is a huge year caliber of player personally

I think they lock up Worilds eventually. I don't think they let him go unless he has a crap year.

If I told ya'll that Jason Verrett would become one of the top 10 corners in the NFL, would you be happy with taking him at No. 15?

Its all relative. Sure that sounds good, but who is there? They are in love with Dennard, is he gone?

Can Jean-Baptiste be a good corner in our zone system in the second and we land a future top 5 pass rusher in Anthony Barr? Pass rushing is much more important to the steelers defense than a corner, and if im correct in thinking Lebeau will out live us all I think we wont see that change in scheme that would make a corner more valuable.

I personally have Verrett at #4 behind Gilbert, Dennard, Fuller. But Im not sure the drop off from Fuller to Roby to SJB is that great (all completely different players though)

I think Verrett is the second or third best corner in the draft, but he will fall due to him being only 5'9.

Well Verrett is going to be a top 10 CB in the NFL regardless of height, so...

The pass rush is the first or second biggest need on the team...however that gets fixed (OLB, NT, DE...whatever they need to do) it needs to be better.

34, 35, and 37 sacks the last three years (34 being last years sad sad total) is a far cry from the

2010 48
2009 47
2008 51
oh and 2005 another 47

Whether the pass rush improves because of better dline play or a premier pass rusher putting the team on his back thats an average of 49 sacks ( a whopping 15 more than last year) every time they went to the superbowl and had a top 5 defense.

Corners looked pretty damn good back then. Which is why Id rather address either the pass rush or WR in the first round rather than CB. Give me Barr over Dennard all day
