Enjoyed your commentary! Almost sounds like you would've given Dallas a thumbs up for taking Manziel. I don't believe you. :)

But the time we do need a QB, I feel good about him being surrounded by a good OL.

I wouldn't have given it a thumbs up but it was a lot more justifiable than most acknowledge.

If Manziel does become a star Jerry Jones will never live it down.

Especially in a couple of years when Romo is out of the picture.

I agree that it was more justifiable than people say. I would've liked the Johnny pick myself because I hate Romo and I like flashy picks. Michael Irvin was also pumping up the Johnny pick live on NFLN. But Jerry listens to those around him and they convinced him that Johnny shouldn't be the pick even if he was there. By the time they were OTC, Johnny wasn't even a thought. The Cowboys were actually hoping to get Shazier at 16 and had his agent on the phone until the Steeler's made him their pick. I'm sure Jerry saw the big $$$ signs that would've been made if he could've brought Johnny to Dallas. But to the surprise of most, he actually made the right "football" move over the right "financial" move. ... and even with Romo being owed $34M in guaranteed money, I still think Johnny in Dallas would've made that dollar amount appear miniscule.

Isn't Gabe a Jackson more of a LG? Played there in college and projections show Austin Howard and Menelik Watson will man the right side.

What's a good comparison(s) for Derek Carr?

Just happy the pick wasn't Ealy or Jernigan. Martin was good value there, will help upgrade the line and doesn't have an injury history. :)
As I said let someone else gamble on Easley, the pats can afford it, Lawrence was a solid pick for the D-line.
