Default Training Camp Cut Predictions

The 2014 Rookies that will not make 53-Man Roster thread inspired me to create this thread. Which veterans do you see this year getting cut or are are expendable now because their team drafted a younger more inexpensive alternative? I don't really know which guys are vulnerable or what makes one a candidate, other than a high salary that doesn't equal one's talent.

So, who are the vets on your team, or just that you know of, that you can see getting cut and replaced by a younger option in training camp?

I expect LaMichael James, Brandon Lloyd, Jon Baldwin, Eric Wright (or Perrish Cox), and Josh Johnson (or Blaine Gabbert), to be cut.

Michael Roos for sure will be let go. Lewan and Oher are going to be the tackles in Tenn. They now have 3 first round picks on the Oline and a high priced OG free agent. No way are they going to pay Roos the 6 million he's making.

But for a player like Roos its a deal. Cause he's a really good player. And will find work in less than a week.

The Seahawks backup QB battle should be interesting. They only kept 2 QBs last year. Jackson, Pryor, Daniels and Price may be battling for 1 spot.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Robert Turbin get the axe. Runs way to upright and falls down at first contact everytime he touches the ball. Christine Michael and Spencer Ware both look better to me.

At WR Sidney Rice, Ricardo Lockette and Kevin Norwood are battling for 1 or 2 spots. I'd prefer if they cut Rice unless he has a great preseason.

I felt like the reason Turbin was the no. 2 last year HAD to be because of things like pass pro, because he is thoroughly unimpressive as a runner. Hopefully Christine Michael can beat him out.

For the Jets:

RB Mike Goodson, especially now that we claimed RB Daryl Richardson off the Rams. MIGHT carry 4 backs, given Ivory's health history. Goodson is coming off a torn ACL and a bad, bad arrest last offseason.

WR Stephen Hill needs a damn good training camp and preseason to fend off the 3 Jet rookies. He has no ties to Idzik or Rex.

WR David Nelson the same though he is in a better standing than Hill IMO since the coaching staff likes him.

Aren't they switching Pryor's position?

I'd see a position switch before Carroll decides do put a slip in his locker.

Haven't heard anyone with the Seahawks say that. I have heard speculation but he was suited up in red during OTAs. Even if he does switch positions he'd have to beat out a couple of the Rice, Norwood, Lockette group to make it at receiver.

If he does make it at QB, it might mean they keep 1 less receiver with the thinking he could play in a pinch.

I just read that Bruce Carter on the Cowboys is a candidate to be cut. He's got one year left on his contract and the Cowboys spent a 4th round pick on Hitchens.

It sounds like there is a chance Brandon Flowers could be a June 1st cut. :(

The Chiefs are in cap hell and would save 7 million this year and next if they cut him June 1st.

Alex Smith,Justin Houston and Eric Berry are all on the last year of their deals...

I don't like either of these moves. They really reflect poor management and scheme changes, rather than the talent of the players. If Carter goes to a 3-4 team and Flowers to someone who plays cover 2 / off man, they'll both make their old teams look bad.

Unless he converts to LB and really, really stands out on Special Teams, I see no way in hell James Wilder Jr. makes the Bengals roster. I mean the decision to sign with a team that drafted the First RB in each of the last 2 drafts is mind boggling.

They did not draft the 1st RB in this draft. Bishop Sankey went 1 pick ahead of Hill. It all depends on what they do with BJGE, Peerman and Burkhead. They usually keep 4 RBs.

My bad. Either way he isn't making that roster.

Our new linemen, as untrustworthy as they may be, could push out the old staff's right side in Kraig Urbik and Erik Pears. TJ Graham is not in a great spot. I thought there was a lot of average depth talent crowding around the secondary but I could see all the notable guys sticking around.

I don't get to follow you guys much so how is Ron Brooks doing? I remember wanting him bad thinking he'd be a major sleeper.
