Matt Hamill officially retired today at 34, guess the guy didn't want to go much longer but what an inspirational career.

ZOMG this is why back in the WEC days in the Cerrone battles I said Ben Henderson was a top 10 LW who could become UFC champ one day. The guy is insane. He can't be sub'ed, has legs like a horse, dominant wrestling, great subs, and has good striking. The guy is an animal. His time with BJ Penn has also equipped him with top takedown defense. Pettis just had the fight of his life vs Bendo and Pettis is a top fighter once he continues to develop his takedown defense. Between Bendo, Cerrone, Pettis, Roller, Njoukani, etc, the WEC 155ers are proving that they weren't the minor leagues. Making Jim Miller who was in line for a title fight look like garbage is an amazing feat.

Good fights on the main card I was kinda hoping they'd throw some prelim fights in there. WEC guys lookin good, Cerrone looking really good.

Cerrone has great striking and slick subs. His weakness though which could hurt him in the 155 lay n pray division is that he doesn't have great takedown defense and struggles when guys bring it to him like the 2 Bendo fights. At least though he doesn't have to fight Lay Guida since they are teammates. If Dana wants a FOTN Cerrone against Siver or Stout would be awesome. As for Bendo I feel like a title eliminator with Guida makes most sense but it sounds like Guida is willing to sit out until next spring or summer to face the Maynard/Edgar winner. When asked if he would fight Bendo last night Guida said he doesn't believe he should since he beat Pettis who beat Henderson. MMA math at its best. I don't know what Clay's thinking lets be honest the Maynard Edgar fight is in October. The earliest they would fight again is February if they don't have any injuries. Last night was one of the better free cards they've ever had, there were some amazing prelim fights as well. Cole Miller looked good, even though he'd get wrecked might as well give him to Cerrone since Cowboy has been asking for that fight for a while. The Bruce Leroy/Hettes fight was a wild ground fight with constant transitions and sweeps. CB Dolloway and Hamman had a FOTN worthy first round. Also Ed Herman had a sick sub on Noke. Benevidez did work but I'm just not a fan of his fights and style. To me though he is the clear cut #2 135 pounder in the world but is just waiting for the 125 class. Wineland is frustrating, his takedown defense is so good now but he doesn't let go of his hands.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has reportedly signed a multi-year contract with the Fox Broadcasting Company, taking effect in January 2012.
According to a report from the Sports Business Journal, the promotion has inked a deal with the network for seven or eight years, giving Fox the rights to broadcast as many as four live MMA events per year.
Most of the UFC's weekly programming, which currently airs on Spike and Versus, will reportedly now be broadcast on the Fox-owned FX channel. This includes events such as “Ultimate Fight Night,” as well the UFC's long running reality show, “The Ultimate Fighter.” According to the SBJ's sources, Fox could pay the UFC up to $90 million, and a deal announcement could come as early as this week.
Fox subsidiary Fuel TV will also benefit from some UFC programming. However, the SBJ writes that Fox will not re-brand Fuel TV to give the UFC its own channel.
The UFC was rumored to be in talks to purchase struggling cable network G4 with plans to transform it into an independent UFC network. However, those plans seem to have been scrapped in favor of the aforementioned arrangement with Fox. The promotion's long-standing contract with Spike TV will reportedly expire at the end of 2011.

This would be a great opportunity to get the smaller weights some love. One WEC level fight on Fox and you've got a ton of new MMA stars. I'm hoping they put the winner of Cruz/Mighty Mouse vs. the winner of Faber/Bowles on that first card.

They're going to have 4 events on Fox though. UFC has never been on broadcast tv, and with their roster they have the ability to make something big happen long term.

It's not just FX though, it's 4 events a year on Fox, then the rest to FX.
Also without the UFC, FX > Spike by a lot.

Actually its a huge step up, FX is a much higher rated channel than Spike TV. It also has better placement in most cable systems than Spike does. Not to mention FX has a tremendous reputation of having award winning programs like 'rescue me" and "sons of anarchy", compared to Spike with its shows like Manswers. Plus UFC gets 4 network specials on FOX a year. This is a big step up.

Rumors of Overeem getting signed to the UFC and fighting either Lesnar (if healthy) or Mir.

Reem is a *****, but a move to the UFC would be awesome. If people stand and trade with him we are in for some great matchups.

Reem will kill almost every UFC fighter. The only guy who I know for sure would beat him is Cain because of his speed and power. Although he's k-1 champ Reem's damage is in the clinch, Cain is too fast for him and Reem gets hit a lot and doesn't have the greatest chin. I think with JDS he'd eventually win because JDS doesn't have lethal KO power and eventually he'd get caught in the clinch, either that or Overeem would get gassed. I think a first fight with Roy Nelson would be a good measuring stick.

JDS has plenty of KO power especially since he's faster than Overeem and should be able to get some really nice shots in with that speed. Reem's an ogre, but I think both Cain and JDS would take him.

Guy got beat by Shogun, Lil Nog, and Chuck. But now hes gonna dominate at heavyweight? Come on.

Overeems a completely different fighter now than he was back in Pride, it is possible to progress ya know. He's easily a top 5 guy at HW, not sure how you could dispute that.

Yup should be a walk through the park win, he'll likely just lay on him for 3 rounds but he can get the sub if he wants to.
