DC would be fighting for the HW title right now if he didn't go down in weight class. Based on who he beat whist a HW, I think he definitely deserves an immediate shot at the LHW title. It's not hard to see he's at that caliber right now.

No he wouldn't. He went down because he refuses to fight his training partner Cain.

Also, Chris Cyborg is awesome. If you didn't see her interview today, I'd check it out. And, btw, I think what Ronda has done for women's MMA is amazing and she is a legit main event level draw, I just don't really care.

I know exactly why he went down in weight. I'm just saying he'd be the #1 contender if he didn't do that, so he has the credentials to fight for a title.

The sad thing is Junior will continue to be the #1 contender but have to get passed up because he can't beat Cain but no one else can beat Junior either.

It's a fair point considering Anthony Pettis not even a champ yet was given a title shot at 145 having never fought at that weight, or Frankie Edgar. Challengers for Bones are dwindling down so I wouldnt have had any problem with DC's first fight at LHW being for the title other than him probably wanting a tune up fight, this one however was a softball thrown right to him. I do feel though that Bones and Gus's length are going to give Cormier problems. Its hard to say that considering he's fought more massive guys like Bigfoot, Barnett, and Mir, but the difference is that Bones and Gus have the speed to really utilize that advantage. At HW Cormier's speed outweighed the reach disadvantage, at LHW that could pose a problem. Regardless there is no doubt that he's a top 3 or 4 LHW.

Cormier is definitely deserving of a title fight, but no way he should jump Gustafsson. We absolutely need that rematch next assuming Teixeira doesn't pull off the miracle.

Patrick Cummins could be good, but he is really, really stupid. Who the **** bothers trying to take DC down? He was winning the striking then all of a sudden went to take DC down. Like...wtf? Use your range, idiot. He was tagging DC, too.

The thing that most stood out to me last night was how stupid the UFC thinks all the fans are. I know there are people out there that falls for every line the UFC throws out there, but some of the nonsense they spout is ridiculous.

-Patrick Cummins is only 4-0 because hes too good for anyone to fight
-Cummins had 40 fights turned down, once again because hes too good
-Cummins beats up on "UFC HEADLINERZZZ" all the time in the gym
-Stephen Thomson is gods gift to striking
-Ronda is the biggest star in mma- the gate for the fight was **** and in general I would dispute this claim beyond the mainstream media appeal she draws.
-Even though the fight seemed to confirm the narrative, I am not buying that Ronda is knocking out world charmps left and right with body shots in the gym

Im sure there is much more but its getting worse as time goes on. Rogan used to have a little more objectivity but he has thrown that out the window. I was a little disgusted when Rogan slipped right into the narrative of "DC LOOKED BETTER THAN EVER," knowing he can't just say....yeah that was some ******** I just sold everyone. I feel like there is a way to be enthusiastic and hype the product that isn't just absolute hyperbolic nonsense.

Maybe it isn't as compelling but i feel like you could just say that Cummins is a talented fighter that deserves a step up in competition and while the step up is just crazy to ask of him, especially with no training camp, he has a chance for the upset because anything can happen in a fight and beyond that Cummins has the high level training and athleticism to capitalize if an opening presents itself. You then talk about the reach advantage and how Cummins has a good wrestling pedigree and you have just hyped a fight.

They have way too many fighters and put on way too many fights.

With Rogan, he's become biased because he trains and has become partial to certain camps he trains with.

UFC needs more announcers and they need to separate the level of events better. The promotion is getting really close to both needing as well as being able to have more of a league format with more structured match-making and rankings. Maybe have divisions within the divisions with relegations.

Even before they brought on WEC and engulfed Strikeforce, they were having PPVs that weren't worthy PPVs. Granted, with 170, had Evans not backed out it would have been a strong card. But one fighter bailing shouldn't wreck a card that badly.

I think the commentary will not improve because the problem is that the job or Rogan, Goldberg, anik, florian ,etc is not to provide educated comments about the events as much as it is to be UFC salesmen. Im not saying a commentator needs to be a hard hitting journalist that is critical of fighters or even the UFC, but as long as the whole production is controlled by the company, UFC events will continue to resemble WWE events more than sporting events, right down to all the twiter promotion that seemed to just start recently but i am already really sick of. Fox would not have been able to secure a deal without allowing the UFC to maintain its autonomy, but that fact ultimately stunts production values for all but the most simple and uneducated of fans.

I don't know the whole story, but i remember hearing about how Ariel Hewlani got in trouble recently for covering a bellator event and got pulled from a lot of his on air duties, at least temporarily. Outwardly, he is a fox employee but thats just how it goes in the ufc dominated world of mma. He didn't even mention bellator on air, he just covered it I believe.

PPVS have gotten really watered down. the first two fights on the card were both not really ppv worthy. The other big issue is that they keep matching up debuting fighters which doesnt really prove anything about either guy to the fans because both are unknown commodities.

I don't mind seeing a Mike Pyle fight on the main card. Those are always awesome. The first fight was not a UFC fight, though.

Pyle is fine in a vacuum, not Pyle against Walburger. Nothing against the guy but the only thing I remember about him is that he taught himself bjj in his garage. Thats not a bad hook, but hes not a fighter that belongs on a main card, even if he is against the mulleted marauder.

I just think any Pyle fight is a good way to start a card. He always brings it and is there to finish the fight.

UFC just matched Melendez's offer from Bellator and will stay in the UFC. His deal sounds pretty rich.

Quote:
Per the terms of the agreement, according to several sources, Melendez's deal guarantees that at least 75 percent of the 31-year-old's fights will be contested on pay-per-view moving forward. Additionally, income earned from Melendez's contracted pay-per-view points will kick in at a lower minimum buy rate than for any contract in UFC history, meaning Melendez will still earn pay-per-view point earnings on an event that performs poorly at the box office. Melendez will also earn pay-per-view income regardless of his placement on an event, i.e., regardless of whether he fights in the main event, co-main event or main card.

Vitor's new haircut is dumber than ever. The Weidman is doomed.

Lyoto replacing vitor is probably the coolest MMA news in years.

Watching this event on the BT Sport stream... David Haye's take on MMA is the most accurate and honest I've ever heard/read from a boxer. Just became a huge David Haye fan.

I love Vitor, he's one of my favorites. But Lyoto is also a favorite of mine. I'm pretty indifferent about it. Wish Vitor could have fought, but happy Lyoto is getting it.

Haye has always been very respectful of MMA, he has done some training which I think helped he appreciation, would be fun if someone could get him sprawling and brawling!

David Haye is the worst. Don't be a fan of is. Guy is a joke.
