Honestly think BPA is a ridiculous concept and nobody really does this. Its always marrying fit, need and value in the best way possible. If bridgewater falls to 25 were sill not drafting him most likely, we might use his BPA status as a trade bait or something but if you really dont have a need somewhere you aint drafting there. Likewise a big Jacobs style running back should never be our pick just because he doesnt fit our offense at all.

I think the concept of "fit" is pretty bad most of the time too. If you have a super talent on the board, you don't pass on him because he doesn't fit your archetype, you adjust the scheme to get him on the field.

In the way defenses are operating these days, and the way the Saints offense shifts personnel, we can make almost anyone fit, if we want to, IMO.

Deon is going to be the man. And at his Pro Day will do even better. I am honestly wanting him at the end of the first, or trade back to top of 2nd and get an extra 3rd.

If ODB isn't there in the 1st, how much do we entertain a trade down? Seems like the perfect year to do it considering how stacked this draft is.

depends on the board to be honest, plenty of needs to fill so it should be relatively easy to get good value and fill needs at the same time.

in other news im starting to worry about JG, not sure if the cap can be made free to give him the money he wants

Ten million increase to salary cap helps. And if Brees restructures should be plenty of money.

Even if Brees restructures, it's going to be tight. We'll also need at least Grubbs or Evans to restructure or extend also.

It'd have to be Grubbs.

Honestly though, I don't understand how you guys want a WR or pretty much anything other then a DB in Round 1. Yeah, Colston and Moore are getting up in age, but look at our WR's. I am fine with waiting for the lower rounds because Drew has constantly shown he can make everyone better.

I agree about the round 1 aspect of our draft. While we are here, what is your take on if we need to pay JG as a WR or as a TE?

I think he's going to get paid as a TE. His camp obviously wants $12M a year but I think Loomis and the Saints FO want to pay him close to what Gronk got which is $9M a year. I can see them compromising on $10M a year.

I think 4 years 32-40 million should be what it is. Gives a middle ground and 4 years he would be justified (if healthy) to recieve even more.

I want a wideout because it would prevent us from getting into deep cap troubles next year. Corner was pretty decently managed last year with guys we still have under contract and PRob coming back (although iyam that doesnt really help as much as it hurts the position). Ideally i still want an OT in the first round, OLIne was dreadful last year

Corey White should not be a starter, Greer is gone. We have Lewis, White, PRob. One quality corner.

First Moore, and now it sounds like we are serious to trade Sproles or else cut him by Tuesday. Wow!

knowing our recent trend with draft picks im fully expecting us to draft a pass rusher in the first round. Glad i was very wrong in Vaccaro thusfar though

Hey guys long time no see. Going to be a very different looking Saints team next year, but I'm not one to shun change. A lot of these moves were needed to stay competitive in the long run.

Who do you guys like in the Draft? I'm going to resolve to post around here more often.

I seriously doubt Loomis would have signed a huge FA without having Jimmy all but locked up. While I'd take the 2 firsts for Jimmy, I think they are back loading everything to use up Brees' last couple of elite years. Jimmy will be resigned.

must be the most backloaded contract in the history of ever. Going to need to add some small pieces in FA just to make the roster numbers work but draft a corner, a wideout and some OLIne help and were pretty much set for next season iyam. Would like to resign Haralson, played more than decent enough

Which quite frankly is just an awesome idea. I dont care about being crap for a year or two. the FO is good enough in FA to rebuild quite quickly into a capable team at the very least.

That's the only way to go really with Brees at 35. I'll gladly take a super bowl or 2 and 2 bad years after Drew retires. They seem to think pretty highly of Ryan Griffin too since they bumped him up from the practice squad last year just so another team wouldn't claim him.
