I would love to see the Phillies get Porcello but the contract demands will probably scare them off.
I think Smoker, Mills (extremely optimistic) or even Burgess (PLEASE NO!) may be the Phills pick.

Looks to me like LaPorta can be a good professional hitter playing LF and subbing at 1B. They also mentioned he used to play catcher...

If he's there, Morescaro is the guy.

We're moving along at a really nice clip here with the draft. I think the expectations of the television audience and the attention the draft is getting is making teams move quicker.

It would be going much quicker if there was no TV.

At this rate, we may not get out of the Supplemental Round.

You might be right. Usually, they do 40 rounds in what, 2 days? I think they're only doing the first 5 televised today...

Yeah I really wish ESPN didn't pick up the draft. The baseball draft is not made for television as football or basketball are.

PL, your mock had SF with Bumgarner. Good call. What do you know about him?

The coverage ends at 6 so whatever they are at by then. As P-L just said at this rate we won't get out of the supplemental 1st.

Lefty. Dominant fastball that runs up into the high 90's. Funky arm slot that will need to be fixed up. Average curve and slider. Tall and athletic. If he can get a consistent arm slot and delivery, he can tighten up his breaking pitches and really be something.

I was hoping to see the Mets pick before I leave work at 5 pm, is that possible right now?

I like Amount as a SP much better than Bumgarner. They are very similar in size and build and athleticism, but Aumont already has plus secondary pitches. Great job by Seattle here.

It's not looking good unless things pick up a little. As we get later in the 1st though things might go a little quicker but ESPN is ruining things as usual.

Aumont is a very good pick for them. I also like him better than Bumgarner.

He's a tall (6'5") lefty out of High School. He's got a dominant fastball that reaches mid 90's. He only has one plus pitch (his fastball), but he only started throwing breaking pitches two years ago, I believe. He has shown improvement on his breaking ball every year, so that's a good sign. He also has very good control.

Lefty starters are very nice as a novelty, but at the end of the day, you need to have quality pitching. I feel like lefties are too highly coveted.

Dear Marlins,
Please don't take Blake Beavan.
Thank you.

Excuse me for being ignorant but what does the (QC) mean. Where the hell is this guy from. Quebec City? Did they just take a Frenchman?

Most likely not, unless teams pick up the pace.
