With the 32nd selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Tennesee Titans select Limas Sweed, wide receiver from the University of Texas. I think we should wait for Limas Sweed to be our future #1 WR in next year's draft. Therefore, focusing on defense this year and considering this year is filled with very good DE's and Safetys. I believe we should draft DE or S with the 19th pick. If Limas Sweed becomes a Titan, he could reunite with Vince Young, who they worked with very well at Texas. Just my opinion but would leave to hear other people's opinions.

I'm glad to hear Floyd has gotten an analyst job.

Limas Sweed would be nice. But would he last to pick 32? I know he's got good size at about 6'4, correct? And he seems to have good speed. Most of the TD's I see him get come from long bombs to the end zone, much like Ted Ginn gets. He may end up being a great pick up at the end of the first round.

i wouldn't mind signing a veteran WR and wait till next year to Draft a WR. Next years class is stacked, EB, Sweed, Mario manningham, and DeSean Jackson off the top of my head.

Right on smittyjs. I think we should go with a defensive stud this draft and wait for our franchise #1 WR till next year with Earl Bennett, Limas Sweed, Mario Manningham, etc.

But this year there is a bunch of franchise recievers with tons of potential. The way this team is going, do you feel that we would have a chance to draft any one of these players next year?

Well, I don't think we should take a WR in the first, unless all the top defensive talent is off the board. If someone like Charles Johnson, Carriker, Moss, etc. is there, then I take them. If not, I'd be fine with Bowe, Jarrett, or Meach.

I still definately think that the top need for the team this offseason should be building back up the DL. Doesn't all have to be done in the draft. I also think we should bring in some competition for Tulloch at MLB. Hopefully the guys we have in-house work out at FS. I like Fuller the best because of his range and coverage ability.

Btw, out of the receivers next year, I'd take Desean Jackson

He was pretty good. He had nagging hamstring problems that slowed him down alot when he first got here, but after a while he started playing alot better. I hope we re-sign him so that he'll have a full season healthy. Nothing spectacular, but he's a decent starter.

Titans reach deal with Reinfeldt

By PAUL KUHARSKY
Staff Writer

The Titans and Mike Reinfeldt have agreed on a contract that makes him the team’s new general manager, the Titans will announce this afternoon.

Reinfeldt, who will leave his post as vice president of football administration with the Seattle Seahawks, should be in Nashville in the next few days when he will be formally introduced and get to work.

Reinfeldt will have to quickly get up to speed as the Titans plot their strategy for the NFL free agency period, scheduled to open with the start of the new league year on March 2.

He will likely hire a replacement for Al Smith, the team’s director of pro scouting whose contract was not renewed.

He could also have a hand in the hiring of a salary cap specialist who would help both Reinfeldt and chief operating officer Steve Underwood spend more time on other matters.

Details of the new contract were not immediately available. But the deal was expected to land in the four- or five-year range. If it pays him the average of general managers around the league it will be worth between $800,000 and $900,000 annually.

In hiring Reinfeldt, the Titans fill a post held for 13 years by Floyd Reese, who resigned on Jan. 5 when it became clear owner Bud Adams would not be offering him a new deal upon the February expiration of his contract.

Reinfeldt was a safety from 1976-83 with the Houston Oilers, who moved to Nashville in 1997 and became the Titans in 1999.

He started 102 consecutive games for Houston, leading the team in interceptions three times. He was an All Pro in 1978 and a year later he led the NFL in interceptions with 12, which ties him for the franchise record.

Reinfeldt has also worked for the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Raiders.

I'll give you that the Titans are definately a rising team. I see them first hand being that I now live in the Nashville area. But a big reason the Titans beat the Colts during the regular season is because that was when the Colts were playing their worst football of the year. It's all about what you do in the playoffs anyways, not the regular season. It will be fun though to watch the Colts and Titans do battle again next season as I predict the Titans will overtake the Jaguars as the 2nd best team in the AFC South.

Detroit Lions cornerback Dre’ Bly has asked the team to trade him, and the club has granted him and his agent Kennard McGuire the right to negotiate with other clubs. The Tennessee Titans are likely in the market for another cornerback to play opposite Adam “Pacman” Jones, and Bly, who is regarded primarily as a man-to-man cover corner would be a good fit in Tennessee, says McGuire. New England’s Asante Samuel and Buffalo’s Nate Clements are regarded as the top free agents on the market, but their price tag would be considerably higher than Bly, who is scheduled to make $4.2 million in 2007, the final year of his current deal with the Lions. “I think he would be a perfect fit in Tennessee,” McGuire said. “They have a great young corner over on the other side, and I think Dre’ would be a great complement to him and a good influence.”

Not a huge fan of that. Guess it depends how much they want for Bly.

HOPEFUL RETURN: The agent for Titans free agent defensive tackle Robaire Smith said he has been told by both Fisher and Rich Snead, who ran the front office in the interim before Reinfeldt was hired, that the team wants to keep Smith in Tennessee.

“They both said they want to keep Robaire in Tennessee, and Robare wants to stay there, if they are willing to pay him fair market value,” Smith’s agent Michael Harrison said.

I actually think Bly could be a good fit. Looking at his games from last season, he really only had a couple of bad games--one against Torry Holt & the other against Terrell Owens (two guys who make nearly every CB look bad).

He's a solid #1 CB, but he'd be a great #2 CB for the Titans and would allow Reynaldo Hill to move to the dime-back role (where he would be really good as well).

Of course, a lot would depend on the asking price...
