The WWE is in a tough spot right now. I went through the last five years worth of PPVs and there seems to be a pretty clear hierarchy of who the brass thinks can make money and pull a top match.
Cena is clearly far and away their #1 guy. After that I would rank them (based on their opinions, not mine):
2) Edge (retired)
3) Randy Orton (suspended/dog house)
4) Undertaker (retired/select appearances)
5) CM Punk (WWE Champion)
6) Shawn Michaels (retired)
7) HHH (select appearances)
8) The Rock (select appearances)
9) Chris Jericho
10) Sheamus (World Champ)
11) Batista (retired)
12) Alberto Del Rio
13) The Big Show
14) Daniel Bryan
15) The Miz (making a movie, star has drastically fallen)
16) Wade Barrett (injured)
17) Dolph Ziggler
And that's about it in terms of people they've been comfortable with putting a spotlight on. You could probably even take Ziggler off the list.
They just haven't done a particularly good job of highlighting new people, and the ones they have (Punk/Bryan) are currently feuding with each other. I would personally give Ziggler the push he deserves, but outside of that there aren't many guys who could legitimately be considered credible heels for Cena other than the Big Show. At least for now.

Triple H is absolutely above Shawn Michaels, come on now (not that I'd have it that way, but WWE feels as if that's the case). Orton has also fallen drastically, and Punk is certainly above him at this point.

Sheamus is getting up there. He consistently gets pretty good crowd reactions, and wins pretty much everything.
I wish he would lose every once in a while, but these days in WWE the top faces win everything always ever.

I was talking about the last 5 years overall, not necessarily a reflection of where they are today. The point is that over the last 5 years they've only elevated a handful of people.

Because nobody at the top is putting over anyone. Show has only put over Cena again and again (he put over Henry but then raped his momentum), Cena has only really put over Punk and Rock, Edge put over no one and had to retire, Taker hasn't put over anyone, HHH put over Sheamus sort of but then destroyed him randomly and made him look ridiculous, Rock puts no one over, Jericho is doing his best to put everyone over but can only do so much...

Brodeur what are you talking about? Big Show put over the Straight Edge Society, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, AND Jack Swagger.

Just like the Big Show, I think I like Sheamus more as a heel than I do as a face.

Thats because Sheamus is a horrible face. Pretty much every babyface in WWE is horrible because theyre all completely watered down and raped of any character or edge that they might have had before that made them popular to begin with. Smile, say nothing interesting, and win every match against the guys who actually have characters. Thats what faces do in WWE.

Big Show is awful as either, so I don't give a rats ass. Sheamus was much more interesting as a bad ass face like when he first became one last Summer, they just watered down his character to extremes.

The WWE doesn't care anymore what fans of yesteryear want, they give us what they feel the younger generation aka kids want and think that we have no better option then to take it. Frankly I was always a huge mark and loved watching wrestling, but now I just don't even give it a passing thought anymore. The stars of my younger days are long gone, some still stick around for a cameo, but the Attitude Era is dead and mediocrity reigns supreme. Not even the return of Chris Jericho has brought me back because I know its never going to be the same..........AGAIN!

I haven't been this excited for the product since 2006. Tonight was a damn good show. Didn't expect Aires to win, but he did. He won clean and in a damn good match. Also liked Zema Ion winning the X Title, I like him. Him/Sorenson down the road is fine (Pretty much the only way I'd care about Sorenson, lol). AJ/Daniels was better than I thought it would be (Their last few encounters have been subpar). Overall just a really good show.

Throw in the fact that Joe is being booked stronger than he has been since around 06, and theres a lot of good stuff going on right now.
But seriously, that Aries/Roode match was fantastic. Up there with Taker/HHH(WM), Cena/Lesnar(ER), and Punk/Bryan(OTL) for me.

I like Airies a lot. He's probably my favorite person in TNA. I'm just not sure what they're going to do between now and BFG. I don't see how Roode/Storm for the title isn't the main event.

They could do Roode/Storm as a grudge match, and Aries/Joe for the title if they really wanted to. Maybe Sorenson (who I don't like, but the story works) will be ready as well by then.

Doing it as a grudge match doesn't really work because they've faced each other so much already since Storm was robbed of the title. The only way that match really matters (and they've already let some air out of it with the # of matches they've had) is if Storm has a chance to get the title back.
I thought about an Airies/Joe match for the title, and while that would be a great match, I'm not sure it will get the draw that TNA needs for their marquee PPV.

I think the Aries/Roode feud continues over the next 2 PPVs leading up to BFG, where I imagine Roode wins the title back in that time. Then Storm beats Roode for it at BFG while Aries is in a marquee match against someone like Styles or Daniels or something.
Speaking of Daniels, im enjoying him now more than I ever have. His smugness and douchebaggery, his appletinis, his being the world tag team champion of the world (not redundant!). He's awesome right now.

There's a lot of risk involved in that depending on how it is handled. Airies winning the title only to lose it two months later has the potential to make him look weak, and at the expense of having Roode lose the title for a momentary pop at a minor PPV.
These are the types of things that I hope they thought about, because I think your scenario is bad for longterm business.
