So yeah, Firefly was pretty ******* awesome. I wouldn't call it "Bonnaroo awesome", but still great nonetheless. You could kind of tell it was a first year music festival, things were exrtremely unorganized at times in comparison to what it is like at Roo. I still had a great time and the music was absolutely phenomenal. Jack White and the Black Keys absolutely blew me away. The Black Keys show may have been the most fun for a concert I've ever had, but both of their shows **** you in the face with awesomeness. The Killers were a good show, but I don't really have any attachments to that band, so I don't really think I enjoyed it quite as much as the people who were there to see them, though I still had an absolute blast at that show. Modest Mouse was a really cool show, got to hear a few of my favorite songs of theirs as well as a few of their songs I don't know that I really enjoyed. The Head and the Heart was also great, got to hear a few more of their new songs, and I must say, I'm real excited for their next album. Their music is headed into a much more dynamic place, dynamic enough to match the emotion of their music, and I am extremely excited to hear their new, finished album. Walk the Moon was a great show, everybody there was dancing the whole time, lots of people were covered in facepaint and having a great time. Cake was one of my favorite shows, got to listen to one of my favorite bass players and groove out for that show. Went to a The Flaming Lips for a most of their set, and I can see why people love their shows. Real trippy type setting, crazy lights and stage displays, as well as the lead singer crawling in a bubble and walking into the crowd. Saw more tits for that show than any other I've been to, and those were just what was on the screen, lol. The Cold War kids came out andput on a great show, played a lot fo their bigger songs as well as a few of my favorite lesser known ones. My friend who I went with wans't familiar with them before that show, but really liked it and will be looking into their music, I'm sure.
It was definitely a different type of festival than Roo. More of a hipster festival than a hippie festival, but we lucked out and had great neighbors. I'll be real interested to see what the lineup is next year, and what the price is, because, if the lineup is as good as it was this year, I might just go again, because I'd imagine that some of the issues that the festival had this year will be fixed now that they know what to expect.

I don't think Kanye has ever made a bad song.

Fair enough. College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, and Dark Fantasy were all fantastic.

Yeah that is just about the most I heard as well. There were people from Maine and Chicago who we met that said they had 12 and 14 hour drives. Lots of people from Delaware though. I thought I might have seen your group on Friday, but it was only a group of four Asian guys, and we were walking toward a show at the time, so I just kept on going. The Flaming Lips were a good show, but I wouldn't say it was one of my favorite shows. It was a lot of fun, lots of stuff going on on stage during the show, but the music was lacking for me. I have a feeling if I would be the type to trip balls at a show, I'd enjoy their type of show a lot more. Grouplove was a great show too. I saw them at Roo but was too far away to really enjoy their show, but they were great. I went to go see Imagine Dragons, but stopped at Ra Ra Riot instead, and stayed for almost their whole set, and stayed for all of Modest Mouse, so we missed Trampled by Turtles, which sucks, but besides that, I saw everybody I wanted to. Who were your favorite shows of the weekend? If I had to do a ranking right now, I'd probably go something like.
The Black Keys (I was like 40 feet from the stage for these guys)
The Head and the Heart (Second row, it was ******* awesome)
Jack White (after they fixed his sound)
Cake (this whole show was awesome, I like how they interect with the crowd)
Modest Mouse
Cold War Kids
Bobmbay Bicycle Club
Walk the Moon
I missed Moon Taxi too because Firefly had a major fuckup in their system and told my friend his wristband was stolen, so that pissed us off, but besdies that, the weekend was great.

For your sake I hope it continues shifting, Mac Miller is awful. If you are looking for good rap, I'd suggest Cunninglyguists. Some of the best lyrics there is in rap, both in content and style, as well as artistry. If you're into Jack Johnson, listen to Ben Howard, I know I'm always pimping him out on here, but he is worthy of it, lol.

i missed a lot of shows i wanted to see. trampled by turtles, cults, blind pilot, moon taxi, walk the moon, bassnectar, and cake. big sad face. our stamina wasn't too great throughout the weekend and we chilled off to the side for some of the shows. i regret it now. wish i ran around everywhere and got to experience everything more fully.
there were more asians than i thought there would be lol. our fourth ended up not coming so it was just me and two other small-eyed brethren. i didn't hear anything negative about firefly and i hope i can make it out next year with an even more dope lineup maybe. i must see the lumineers, roman candle, and of monsters and men live!
aw man a ranking is tough but i'll try.
1. the head and the heart
- i was just so freaking psyched to hear them and they certainly didn't disappoint. we were pretty front and center and each of the songs and members were so so great.
2. the killers
- my friend and i have been anticipating seeing the killers live for over two years and their show was great. the backdrop on the stage, the fireworks, ******* brandon flowers. just great.
3a. the black keys
- i wish i listened more to their older duo stuff. i enjoyed the hell outta the el camino songs they played though. the atmosphere was absolutely bonkers as well. i missed jack white but dan auerbach killed on the guitar.
3b. grouplove
- we started at the back of the crowd but worked our way super close since no one seemed to be into the music at all. everyone was just chatting during the set and it was infuriatingly annoying since i was so excited for them. they are so talented. i was worried they wouldn't put on a great show since they've been touring so intensively most of the year but NOPE. hannah stole the show and christian's passion was amazing. loved his blue hair too.
i really enjoyed the felice brothers too. did you get a shirt? we were considering it with it being the first firefly but totally forgot to check out the store. i remember you saying you were getting in early too, were you in lot 7 by any chance? we probably crossed paths somewhere there with our somewhat similar musical palettes. i know we didn't meet up but cheers to one helluva weekend in dover!
