College basketball always goes through its cycles. This year the Big East had the upperclassmen and it showed. With them gone, it's probably the Big 10's turn next season. Seems like leagues build up then fall back and start over with young guys, that's what the SEC is going through now.

I hope Stephenson picks St. John's too. I can't believe how down their program has been lately, he would be a nice addition and could be the star. It would be a win-win.

I would love to see St Johns get a star player and start getting some more coverage and recognition again. Always been a fan of the 'Storm, hope Stephenson commits there.

Xavier Henry will pick Kansas (most likely) which means that Stephenson will not. Odds are he will pick St. John's or Maryland. Both programs need the boost, St. John's obviously more.

Wasn't Felipe Lopez supposed to revive St.John's basketball..He was just as hyped as Stephenson is now.

Chris Warren is one of the best players in the SEC but got hurt last year. They were destroyed by injuries. Tirico White came out of nowhere and really played well too. Doesn't surprise me to see them up there. I'm not sure about 22 but I'd say they're top 30.
I think Texas is too high and Purdue is a little too low.
UK could go a lot of ways, depends on who we get and if Patterson and/or Meeks return. Could be top 5, could be not ranked.

If Damion James returns Texas is one of my favorites for a final 4 spot. Dexter Pitman could have a dominant Sean May type season. Damion James would be a front runner for Big 12 POY probably average around 18 ppg, 11 rpg. Varez Ward should be their high scoring combo guard. Balbay if he can cut down turnovers can be a great PG with his ability to penetrate at will. Add to that the veteran bench production from guys like Gary Johnson and Justin Mason. Then add to that IMO the top recruiting class in the country. Avery Bradley will be that explosive scoring 2 guard to replace AJ Abrams. Unlike Abrams though he doesn't rely on the outside shot to score. I liken him to Russell Westbrook except not as good of a defender but definitely a better shooter and scorer. Add to that Jordan Hamilton who is a huge time scoring wing in that Rashard Lewis/Kevin Durant mold as well as Shawn Williams who could be their versatile defensive specialist.

Pittman does not have the kind of mobility and agility May had, yet. But I agree. Another player I like is Balbay because he runs all around the basket but always looks to pass off. He is a true distributor. They have the horses, I can't wait to see Kansas-Texas in 2010. WOW.
On another note Syracuse and Villanova will battle for Big East supremacy. The conference is losing a ton of talent and if Jonny Flynn comes back then the 'Cuse is the slight favorite. I'm from the area and heard through the grapevine (legit source) that Paul Harris most likely is gone. They got Wes Johnson as a transfer and he is probably better than Harris anyway.

Wow, Tennessee at 13 in ESPN's early 2009 top 25. Rivals has them at 10. There must be some serious drugs going around with these sports writers.

I love the players Barnes brings to Texas, watching Augustine/Durant/James/Abrams was awesome. Can't say I'm a big fan of the way he coaches the players he brings in... They will be good next year no doubt, I just think 4 is a little high. Adding Ward should help out a lot.
The Big East having all that strong upperclassmen leadership last year was the reason they were so good, losing them will be why they'll take a step down next year.
Even though it's extremely early, I'd say the top 2 conferences next year will be the Big 10 and Big 12. The east coast media will not be a fan of this.

It's too early to tell who will battle for Big East supremacy. Cuse could lose Flynn, Devendorf, Harris and Rautins. Villanova loses Cunningham, the heart and soul of their team, and could lose Reynolds.
UConn will be in good shape if we return Stanley Robinson. That would leave us only one hole in the starting line-up.

Why would Rautins go anywhere? And I guess Majok and Oriakhi puts UCONN in ok shape.

Correct. Johnson signed with the Wasserman Media Group and will be represented by Dan Tobin.
