We'll either resign or franchise him. Too much value as a player for us.

Ya i know that, just didn't know any specific numbers. It has to be less that what the DE #'s are. Still a ton of money though

Yea, I think its safe to assume less then DEs.
I'm sure Haynesworth bumped up the value though if we end up franchise tagging Wilfork up

Fast forward to the 2 minute mark, Moss is the man. It's him going back and forth with a fan on the jumbotron.

Surprisingly low franchise figure, though I can't find a definitive "In 2010 it will be $XXX" anywhere. I suspect that is because everything changes if there is an uncapped year.
In 2009 it was $6.058 million. ( source)
I can't imagine it will be over the 7 million mark which would be a bargain since Vince would likely command something in the $10 million per year range on the FA market.

Fat Albert likely did put it over $7 million. It's an average of the Top 5 at the position.

True - quick math puts it somewhere near 7.25. Still a bargain compared to Wilfork's true value.

So...What are the odds that Mankins will be on the market next year?

Total coincidence bud.
Sucks that Welker goes down.
Julian Edelman needs to step up big.
He is Wes Welker 2.0 ;)

Yeah, I know.. I still hate that guy though..
But I love Edelman, can't wait to see him next year where he's sure to get more balls thrown his way.

If it is a torn ACL for Welker then he may not be ready for the start of next year. Not only does it suck that it happened, and that he will miss the playoffs, but it sucks that it happened so late in the year.
This is a major blow. I know that Moss opens up alot of what Welker does, but now we need Edelman to essentially be Welker. There is a reason that the two players that went to Welker when he was down on the ground were Moss and Brady.

**** **** **** **** ****....
This is very, very bad. I love Edelman for a game or two, but for him, it's literally all five yards or so past the line of scrimmage. Nothing past that. Doesn't track the ball well. Welker is much more of an all around receiver.

Which is not necessarily a shot at Edelman, he's only played WR for 17 weeks now. Welker after the catch is alot better than Edelman after the catch, nevermind beforehand.
Also, teams right off the bat won't respect Edelman the way they do Welker. This is a big blow.

Regardless of whether or not it was wise to rest the starters, no one around the league was pulling starters before the first drive except the Saints. It's a freak injury. If he had gotten hurt in say, the third quarter, I would have been upset with the coaching staff for playing people too long.

It was a freak injury and it sucks, my only issue is that he was battling injuries all year. Maroney and Faulk were scratches, Welker should have been too in my opinion. I'm not second guessing BB, but Wes wasn't healthy all season and everyone knows he is far too valuable to lose.
Edelman is not Welker, just want to make that clear.

Edelman doesn't have to be Welker - he's Welker 2.0. Not the same, but still... Of course I'm not comparing Edelman to Welker, but he does play alot like Welker: Excellent cuts and vision after the catch (I think Edelman might have better vision actually). He still needs to work on setting up his routes and getting some consistent hands, but overall I like his play. I think he's going to be a very, very good player for us. And in the longterm, the WW injury might just benefit the team, as Edelman gets some more reps and might develop into a third/fourth receiver.
With that being said, it sucks to see WW go down like that. He took a thousand big hits (yes, 1000! I keep track of things like that.. Right.... :) ) and always got back up. And then this happens! Holy ****! I just hope that the OL will step up and runblock for a change.
